Chapter 1 - The Bride Who Wasn’t Supposed to Escape

The wedding was scheduled for 10:00 PM.

By 10:15, the bride was gone.

Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station pulsed under dim yellow lights as the last train of the night prepared to depart. The air smelled of metal, sweat, and unfinished stories.

Arian stood alone on Platform 7, holding a small duffel bag. He wasn't just leaving the city—he was escaping it. Two years ago, he had lost the woman he loved to another man. Tonight, he was finally leaving the memories behind.

That was when he noticed her.

She wasn't dressed like a bride anymore. The heavy jewelry was gone. The red wedding saree had been replaced with a simple black shawl wrapped tightly around her body. But the panic in her eyes—raw, trembling, desperate—gave her away.

She kept looking behind her.

Two men in dark suits stood near the tea stall, scanning the platform.

Watching her.

She walked straight toward Arian.

Before he could step back, she grabbed his arm.

"Don't react," she whispered. "Please."

Her fingers were shaking.

"What's going on?" Arian asked quietly.

"They're looking for me. If they find me, I won't leave this station alive."

That was not the kind of sentence you ignore.

The train whistle blew.

The two men began walking toward them.

Without thinking, Arian pulled her closer and placed his hand around her waist.

She pressed against him instantly—like she had done this before.

The men stopped in front of them.

"Have you seen a girl—"

"She's my wife," Arian said calmly. "We're late for our train."

The tension hung heavy in the air.

The men stared at the girl.

She lowered her head, playing her role perfectly.

After a few long seconds, they stepped away.

But before disappearing, one of them made a phone call.

And that was when Arian realized—

This wasn't just a runaway bride.

This was something bigger.

The train began to move.

She looked at him with eyes that held more fear than relief.

"My name is Maya," she said softly. "And if you stay with me… your life won't be safe anymore."

Arian should have walked away.

Instead, he said—

"Then we leave together."

He didn't know that by morning, his name would be on the news.
