Third person point of view
They chatted a little about the cafe as they ate. Oliver finished his cake in a few more bites and picked up the tissue paper. Christian was also done with his cinnamon roll. He sipped on the coffee. Oliver also wanted to know more about Christian. " I heard that your whole family are doctors ". Christian chuckled.
" Not like that. My parents are but later on they established hospitals so my dad stopped taking patients and focused fully on management. I have a younger brother who did not study medicine. He helps father with the office work. He is already married. His wife is a doctor ". Oliver was amused.
" So it is almost all doctors ". Both of them laughed. " Yeah. But we were not compelled to do it. I picked it up by choice because I wanted to do it ". Oliver nodded. " That is really cool ". Christian smiled. They continued chatting and the sun slowly went down. Oliver glanced at the clock which said 7:32 PM. He was surprised at how long they talked.
Christian noticed his gaze and checked the time too. " I guess I will get going. I took up a lot of your time ". " Nothing like that. It was a pleasure and I enjoyed talking with you ". Both of them stood up. " Oh and today is my treat ". Oliver said and blinked with a smile. Christian nodded and gave a small smile. " Thank you then ".
Oliver walked Christian out and they stood on the pavement. The lights from around cast shadows in different directions and there was a light breeze. " Thanks for today. I had a nice time ". Oliver smiled with his eyes shining like stars from all the colorful lights around. Christian smiled and nodded.
" Same here ". " Then... I hope you will visit more often... if you have time ". Christian saw a tinge of expectation in Oliver's eyes. He gave it some thought and nodded. " I will try ". Oliver smiled wider. He took his phone out of his pocket and unlocked it. " Your number ". Christian took it and typed it out.
Oliver called Christian. They both saved each other's numbers. Christian put his phone back in his pocket. " Bye ". Oliver waved. " Bye ". Christian smiled and walked away. Oliver watched till he turned at the corner and went back inside. Christian went back to the hospital. His consultation hours were over.
He packed his things and went back home. He put his things away neatly and went to the bathroom to take a shower. He put on a bathrobe once he was done and went to the wardrobe. He put on some pants and a t-shirt. He sat down in the living room and let out a sigh. His hair fell on his forehead and he did not have his glasses.
Christian's temperament seemed to get sharper without the glasses. His eyes looked more cold unlike the gentleness he had with the glasses on. He picked up his phone and there was nothing really important. He put it aside and went to the kitchen to make himself some food for dinner. He stirred up some pasta quickly.
Christian brought the food to the table and had it there. After eating, he cleaned up and washed the dishes too. He just sat down on the couch when his phone rang. He turned to see and it was his younger brother. He grit his teeth. He let out a breath and answered the call. " Hello ". " Brother~ how did it go ? " " Not bad ". " Really ? " The tone was full of shock.
" Yeah ". " Damn. The sun might rise from the west. You actually have no complaints ? " " Why did you call ? " Christian's tone was calm and cold. " I wanted to know how it went. Looks like it is a success this time. So I am not going to send you on any more blind dates. I will also tell mom to prepare for the wedding ". " Jacob ". " Yes sir ". " Shut up ".
Jacob was stunned for a while. Christian was ready to hang up but Jacob's voice came through in a flurry. " Wait, wait. Don't hang up ! " Christian sighed and put the phone back to his ear. " Why are you so cold when I want you to have a nice love life ? Please take it a little seriously this time. Mom and dad are worried about you too. Brother please~ "
Christian rubbed his forehead. " Alright. I understand ". Jacob was overjoyed. " I know you are the best. Love you. All the best ". He hung up without waiting for Christian to say anything. Christian shook his head and put the phone aside. He watched the television for a while and then went to his room.
He sat on the bed to read for a while. His thin framed glasses were back on his nose. His phone vibrated and Christian stopped reading. His lit up screen showed the time, 11:37 PM. He also saw a message from Oliver. He opened it and smiled faintly.
Oliver : Hope you reached home safe. Have a good rest. Good night. 😊
Christian : Did. Thank you. Good night.
Oliver held his phone and rolled on the bed giddily. The message looked a little cold but he was still happy. He put his phone aside and fell asleep with a smile on his face. Christian also put all the things aside and removed his glasses. He put them on the bedside table and turned the lights off. He covered himself and fell asleep too.
