"You're not going anywhere," Parker declared, lunging forward to snatch the travel bag from my grip.
"You don't get it. Derek's father is demanding DNA testing," I hissed under my breath, ensuring Chloe wouldn't catch our conversation. I'd instructed her to remain in the bedroom with the children, hoping they wouldn't witness the chaos unfolding beyond their door. Truth was, I didn't want her discovering what mess we'd fallen into either.
"We'll handle this situation. Don't panic. He can't storm in here making demands for DNA tests," Parker attempted to calm me, though I kept shaking my head while my gaze found Hugo lurking in the corner, hands balled into tight fists.
