Synopsis
In the rainy town of Wenatchee, Washington, seventeen-year-old Violet Hargrove tries to survive the harsh hierarchy of Stonewall Prep, where wealth and cruelty walk hand in hand. With her fiercely loyal friends Dylan and Leo by her side, Violet navigates love, trauma, and identity-until the arrival of Milo Calloway, the mysterious and aloof new student, upends everything she thought she knew. As secrets unravel and danger creeps through the shadows of the forest behind her home, Violet must confront her own vulnerability and strength. A story of coming-of-age, love disguised as hate, and the haunting weight of unspoken truths, Ashes in the Evergreen explores how sometimes the scariest part of growing up isn't the world around you, but the person you might become.

Chapter 1 - Prologue:

Prologue

Sometimes things aren't always as we perceive them to be. People change

throughout the years of their life. Perhaps it is the fact that when we are young, we feel

something we haven't felt in our whole lives, love. Falling in love as a teenager is

entirely different than falling in love in our adult years. Our feelings are amplified to such

an extreme level, we feel as though anything could push us off the edge. But it is those

feelings that make us so real. Those feelings drive us and make us feel human. Humanity

has this funny way of feeling things. Unlike any other animal, our relationships hit so

many levels before settling themselves to be, love. We may fall in love with someone at

first sight. The moment we see them, we are so captivated by their essence that we cannot

view ourselves ever being apart from them. Or, it could be the exact opposite. We feel

such an intense hatred for that person. But, in the end it was all a ploy; love disguised as

hatred. Love is so crazy like that. It is right in front of us yet we cannot bring ourselves

into the light to view it. As teenagers, we are vulnerable. We are young souls completely

unaware of our feelings, yet they are so powerful, they influence the rest of our existence.

Love enters itself into our lives in any way shape or form.

Whether it's the random stranger you meet on the road, or the one you've been

dreaming of throughout your entire life. It hides itself in nooks and crannies, andtransforms itself into different things. I don't think I'll ever be able to comprehend the

true power of human love; love between friends, family, or a significant other. One

should keep an open mind to the possibilities of where love could be hiding. It is a

possibility that love is right in front of you, yet you are blinded by the frustratingly

captivating character of this person; you feel love, yet it is camouflaged as hatred. Just,

keep an open mind, you never know what could happen next.
