The previous Li Yichen had no much ambition. He didn't think far. He didn't plan much. He only cared about food, good food and filling his stomach. He loved to play when he had free time and also do some farm work when needed. He was also not too academically intelligent, no, he didn't have the patience to read for hours. He also didn't know how to manage that was why Wang Shulan was surprised when he said he wanted to go work at Yuxi county. She even doubted him at first until he made the first move.
In terms of development, Yuxi was more opened compared to Chenjia. Yuxi had more movement, more people, more chances to make money. Things were faster there. Chenjia could only boast of schools. The settlers and villagers were also frugal. They spent little, saved more. They preferred to do things themselves instead of buying outside. They all prepared and ate homemade meals and made their drinks from scratch except soda. And even that one, many avoided it. The women had taught their children that drinking soda wasn't really healthy and those who took soda were indirectly ruining their bodies. So even if they had a stall, they wouldn't be making much money. Ever since the food stall was opened, their everyday meal increased by bounds. They were eating better. More food. Better food.Their living expenses also became better, not tight like before. Wang Shulan's husband has always been the one taking care of the family expenses. He wasn't even living with them yet the family responsibilities fell heavily on him like stack of cards. Yet, he could only remit money to them by the end of the month. By then, the family might be owing some neighbors for some monetary commodities. Things like rice, oil, flour and even seasoning. These days watching Li Yichen make some meals she never knew of, she could proudly make them now at home. She could also make drinks for the kids to take to school. At night, they had a lot to eat and by morning, she prepare the children meals then leave to Yuxi and have her own fill. She was now proud of how things were and they were no longer managing food. Things were working well and business was moving. Money was coming in and she could now save for Li Yichen's marriage. Wang Shulan wanted her nephew to marry soon. He was about 20 but still had no kisses. She sighed! A long sigh! Her mind moved over to Zhou Wenqing the nurse but she pushed her aside. She never liked that nurse. Her face showed a bit of dislike. She felt Li Yichen would suffer if he marries such a girl. The girl didn't know how to endure. She also knew how to make dangerous schemes. Wang Shulan shook her head slightly. She wanted a humble and hard-working girl as her daughter in-law. Someone who understood life. Someone who can stand and rise with Li Yichen and not wait to be served. Zhou Wenqing had been brought up with a silver spoon thus, she didn't know much about her ordinary people live their lives. She didn't know how to suffer, she, Wang Shulan could not very well accept this kind of problem to exist in her family. As she thought further, her thoughts slowly flowed and stopped at the figure of that girl she had seen once, and a plan formed inside her head. Smiling she went on with her work.
Li Yichen stood at a corner for over 10 minutes. He had been patiently waiting for someone and he had asked himself on several occasions if he was mentally okay for standing here for several minutes waiting for the person to arrive. His eyes darted around the marketplace, shifting his weight from one leg to the other then back. He eyes went back to the meat seller before looking around the market. People were moving, buyers were buying and sellers were selling. The sounds and voices of bargain were filled the air. He was running out of patience from waiting, he then decided to go buy meat and leave before his eye caught the blurry image of that girl. The girl he was waiting for. He smiled mischievously, he wanted to really look for her trouble and he also knew that he was indeed doing something that he had promised himself not to do after that betrayal.
