"You know, if we are discovered, your training would be doubled," Mark said as he glanced at his classmates attending Xavier's school.

Wanda, Pietro, and Jean—the girl who had accompanied Xavier to Sokovia—had grown, with the two girls already developing curves. Apart from the three of them, there were also three new additions: a blonde, handsome boy with glasses, a beautiful black-haired girl with big earrings, and a blue-skinned boy with a tail.

"And that's what makes you boring," Pietro said as he slung his arm over Mark's shoulder and waved his hand horizontally. "You see, life is all about adventure and food. Without those two? Just kill yourself."

"I second that," Jubilee chimed in from the side.

"This is just marvelous," the blue boy, Kurt, said as he scanned the mall like a country bumpkin entering the city for the first time. He turned to the others, "Do you guys come here often?"

"Yes."

"No."

Pietro and Scott answered at the same time. The others turned to look at Pietro, and he just shrugged.

"What? I'm super fast. No one would know," Pietro said with a grin.

"Ah, I really envy you," Jubilee said with a groan, then her eyes lit up as she spotted an arcade in the distance. Pointing at it, she turned to the others, "Guys, I've found our first stop."

Pietro followed her hand, turned to her, and gave her a thumbs-up. "As expected, great minds think alike! Last one pays all the bills!"

Swoosh!

With a sudden gust of wind, Pietro vanished.

Jubilee laughed as she ran towards the arcade, dragging Kurt along with her.

Jean leaned close to Mark and nudged his hand. "Don't worry. We won't get caught."

Mark shrugged with a smirk. "I just felt like reminding you guys so in case we are ever caught, I can say with a grin, 'I told you guys.' To be sincere, I also want to come out; I'm also beat."

Jean chuckled and shook her head. Wanda's eyes lingered on their close proximity for a second before she looked away and walked towards the arcade, though her eyes flashed briefly with a red glow.

The moment Mark and the others entered the arcade, they caught sight of Pietro, Jubilee, and Kurt in the distance—with Jubilee on the floor letting out a dramatic yell, Pietro doing a weird dance, and Kurt looking at a game screen in fascination.

As they approached, Pietro noticed them and pointed a hand at Mark. "I challenge you!"

Mark raised an eyebrow and chuckled. "Sure. But with your superspeed, won't it just be like built-in cheating?"

"Of course not!" Pietro patted the game console with a grin. "We can play pinball. We each get a five-minute timer; the one with the highest points in that five minutes wins. What do you say?"

Mark nodded. "Sure, why not."

Pietro turned around, facing the machine while hiding an evil smirk. He came here almost every day. If he couldn't beat Mark—who spent 24/7 training—then he should just hang himself!

21 minutes later.

With a forlorn expression, Pietro dropped to his knees and stared blankly at the ceiling.

"Guess you're not just all talk," Mark said with a smirk, then turned to the others. "Who wants to fight me?"

The group spent the next few hours exploring the mall.

From the arcade to a record store, and after taking a few bites—Pietro excluded—the group's last stop was a cinema. By the time the sun had almost set, the group finally left the mall.

"It's official," Jubilee walked to the front of the group, turned back to them, and spread her arms wide. "This is the best decision I ever made!"

"It would have been better if you had just stopped flashing every single time. We almost got thrown out," Scott said as he walked past her towards the car.

"What? I was just excited!"

The group chuckled and headed towards the car. The drive home was noisy, with the group still talking about the movie. Mark, driving, looked at them through the rearview mirror and shook his head with a smile.

The massive gate of Xavier's school finally came into view. The group quieted down in nervous anxiety, but as they passed the gate, that anxiety turned to shock and disbelief.

"W-What's going on..." Jubilee muttered with wide eyes. The once-stunning school was now in ruins, with crumbled buildings everywhere.

Mark instantly parked the car and stepped out along with the others, but before he could move, he frowned and looked back. The sound of engines echoed, and a convoy of cars, accompanied by a helicopter overhead, steadily approached and stopped a few meters from them. From the leading car, a stern-faced man stepped out.

"Under state command," the man's eyes scanned them. "You are to come with us."

Mark's frown deepened. "What's going on? What happened to Professor Xavier and the others?"

"You are in no position to question me," the man said. "You either follow us willingly, or we will use force."

As his voice fell, soldiers poured out from all the cars, raising their rifles simultaneously.

The others behind Mark instantly braced for combat.

"We are in no mood to play," behind Mark, the illusory form of the eight-handled sword wheel materialized. "So move out, or get crushed."
