Chapter 2 - ch4

"The Mirror's Gaze"

Lyra faced her doppelganger, the spectral figure mirroring her every move. The Shadowflood River's darkness seemed to seep into the chamber, making the air thick with unease.

"Who are you?" Lyra asked, her voice steady.

"I am the shadow you hide," the doppelganger replied, its voice a twisted echo of Lyra's own. "I reflect the fears you deny, the doubts you suppress."

The mirror-Lyra began to speak Lyra's deepest fears aloud – her inadequacy as a moonweaver, her fear of failure, her hidden desire to be free from the Moonstone's burden.

Lyra felt herself being pulled into the mirror, into the darkest corners of her own psyche. She saw herself walking away from Aethoria, leaving the Moonstone's power behind, living a simple life.

But something within her rebelled. This wasn't her true desire. She wanted to protect Aethoria, to master the Moonstone's power.

With newfound resolve, Lyra reached out and touched the mirror. The reflection shattered, and the doppelganger dissipated. The second Celestial Key floated free, glowing brightly.

As Lyra took the key, the chamber began to flood with light. The Shadow Eels retreated, and the water calmed. Elara's voice echoed in her mind: "Two keys down, one to go. The final key lies in the Heartwood Citadel – but beware, Lyra, the shadows converge there."
