Chapter 4 - First Death of Everything

I sighed tiredly as I was sitting on the top of the fire hydrant, the only safe place I could think of.

109 Deaths… 109 Different but the same days… In that span of time, I've learned a lot of new things, new information, and a new way to live…

First of all, everything is reset upon my death, when I was killed in the day, when I died in the night, I went back to the same day. Another proof of this answer is that one of the buildings was destroyed a while ago. But when I died and came back here, I went back to that place and saw that the building had been restored to its full condition.

The only assumption I could've made is I've somehow become immortal thanks to this weird phenomenon that led me to reset time and come back to this place. Though I don't know how I gained it. But the only person who has the answer to that is the owner of this book…

"And I'd expect I don't have to tell you the condition for it, right?"

Without a doubt, whoever that is, they're communicating with me through this book. So it wasn't a mistake when this book suddenly appeared in front of me.

Second of all, is this black book in my hand. I've come to a confirmation that everything written inside this book stays the same, even after I've died. For example, Is the note I've written inside this book, which is convenient in its own way.

"It's about time I get moving…"

Third of all, all those 109 Deaths have changed me entirely. The me before is oblivious and cowardly. And right now I'm looking at my reflection of the shattered glass as I was walking. Everything about me stays the same. Except, for my eyes. They're pitch black, the lights I was used to seeing on it have gone.

"I swear… I'll get out from this damn HELL!!!"

The Ten that have said that word has changed, maybe completely dead. Leaving me, the one with a dark and gloomy personality to be in charge of getting out of this cursed land.

Here we are… This place… My first one of everything… My first Death…

The sight of the small puddle illuminated by the sunlight through the ceiling's crack above it. But it wasn't the sunlight, that source of light came from somewhere else. I've gained an answer a while ago. I looked to my right and saw the broken chair that lay on the ground. But it wasn't the chair I wanted, what I want is the chair leg that has separated from its body.

I took the wooden chair leg and broke the edge as I sharpened it.

It took me 5 to 10 minutes to sharpen the edge of the wooden chair leg. Which I have finished my preparation for what I would do in the next few minutes. For starters, I throw the stone I've picked up on the roadside on my way here, toward that little puddle.

*GRAWL!!!*

The moment the stone made contact with the puddle, something had devoured both the stone and the puddle in an instant. From its outward appearance, it's like a pillar with a few white spikes around it, but that wasn't the case.

That is what I would call a creature or entity. A being that's too vicious all they want is to devour everything alive. As for the information about the entity… I'll tell you about it later… For now, I would like to focus on this fucking 'worm'.

*SHRIEK!!!*

The worms revealed their mouths alongside its teeth which are sharp like a spike. But it's not only a quirk it has. I was suddenly illuminated by the lights as it blinded me. Which I had seen this coming many times before, thus I jumped to the side, evading the worm's attack.

The worm shrieked as It crashed into the wall the moment I dodged him. As it's still wriggling around the ground, I'm taking my time to witness the ugliness this creature holds.

It's long about 3 to 3.5 meters, 24 inches in width. The surface skin has a few spikes around its body. Its interior was filled with nothing but its sharp teeth, so it made it easy to grind its prey inside out until they became nothing but shredded flesh. And the lights which I can see it illuminated through its surface skin as it struggles.

And then the worm has released its multiple eyes around his body, blinding the whole room with the light through his eyes from inside his body. Once again, I was blinded as I covered my eyes with my arm.

At this point, that worm would've thought this was my downfall the moment he saw me blinded by his radiant lights. He didn't hesitate to take this opportunity to lunge himself towards me, trying to force my body whole inside that spiky hole.

But that kind of sneak attack won't work for me anymore, since I've wasted part of those 109 days on this guy. I've come to learn this guy's every move and characteristic…

I barely evade the mouth that's trying to devour me and use this opportunity to stab the worm with my eyes closed. Even with my eyes closed, I can feel myself stabbing its weak spot like its eye as it shrieks to the volume it would've ruptured my ears.

To stop him from wriggling, I hugged it as I pulled out the chair leg and kept stabbing it. Over and over, every stab reveals its organ and blood as it has splattered all over me. The spike on its surface's skin serves the purpose of keeping any other creature from getting close to him. I can feel the spike piercing my flesh as it's still wiggling inside my embrace as I've tried to take his life. But this life decides to struggle to its bitter end, shrieking as hard as it can, making a wound out of me with the spike. But… The wound does not matter to me anymore…

"This wound but a scratch… Do you think, YOU COULD DEFEAT ME WITH THAT HUH?!!! JUST FUCKING DIE ALREADY YOU WRIGGLY WORM, SAY YOUR PRAYERS, AND GET OUT OF MY DAMN LIFE ALREADY!!!"

As I shouted, the Sunworm spewed a lot of blood on me as it met its end. I fell on my knees out of tiredness, and relief… But this wasn't a time for me to rest yet. As I thought that, My eyes diverted towards the barricaded window that was shut tight, I got up and walked towards it.

My hands reached for the window. No, I was actually reaching for the old cloth curtain on it. I ripped the curtain whole and ripped it into a few parts. Below my abdomen was bleeding because of the Sunworm's spike; although the wound wasn't that deep, it could be fatal if I left it unattended.

I took some cloth with me, thus towards my next move, I went to the worm and forcefully ripped its head from the rest of his body. I then faced upwards as I opened my mouth widely. My throat gulped down the saliva that remained in the Sunworm's mouth. The only source of water I could find in 109 Days inside this city.

After that, I went to its body and ripped apart its flesh, revealing the yellowish organs, sharp teeth, and shining but dim eyes.

Sunworm, it's appearance is like a big worm with a light brown color. Other than that, it has multiple spikes and eyes on its skin surface. As I've explained before, the spike's purpose is mainly to fend off any external attack. For the eyes part they used it to blind their prey to devour them as they were caught off guard.

"AAARRRGH!!! W-WHAT IS HAPPENING?!!"

I couldn't feel my feet on the ground, thus that's when I realized I was being lifted up from the ground. At the same time the pain of being pierced all over my body.

(IT'SHURTSIT'SHURTSIT'SHURTSIT'SHURTSIT'SHURTS!!!!!!!)

That's the only words I was shouting in my mind, as in panic, I couldn't think rationally and tried to forcefully get out of the tight space filled with sharp needle-like teeth. Only for it to clench its inside and break every bone as its teeth dug deeper into my flesh.

But my suffering hasn't ended yet as I was greeted by the tsunami of deathly acid which has come from the internal part of its body. Upon the contact, I lost my voice as the acid entered my mouth it burned my whole face then down to the whole body. The acid that goes into my mouth does the same, damaging my vocal cords and burning my whole organ inside out. After that, I woke up leaning on the fire hydrant. The traumatic experience led to my brain having amnesia as it wants to forget that experience.

That was my first death… By the hand of this Sunworm.

I picked up one of its damaged eyes. I discovered that the Sunworm's eye can be used as the source of light. Thus I've molded its skin that's attached to an eye, to the shape of the ball. Then by using my chair leg, I pierced its flesh, thus It became like a torch. I don't know how long can the light in their eyes can hold out upon its death, not that I can discover it when I can't even make it through 1 day.

I've noticed some of the acids splattered onto me alongside its blood. But I didn't care enough about it; I'd been hurt a lot of times before to get used to it. No, I will never get used to it…

Here I have arrived… At the mountain of the corpse I discover after experiencing my first death…
