Jennifer read her the chapter she just finished writing on her note app.
Usually, she did this just to clean up obvious typos and trim long phrases… but why was she even bothering? Who cared if there was a typo in the middle of an alien invasion?
Anyway, it was upon her first read that she realized she was an idiot all over again.
Let's assume it was true that she was the goddess.
And that she could really write the future.
Then why was she sending her MCs out into that mess on the screen? If only the goddess was someone cool and smart like President Xel—not Jennifer, a kindergarten teacher obsessed with Rolly, her boyfriend (mostly Rolly, but also Ronan the Dragon), and very likely loony.
"Jennifer, what are you doing?"
Jennifer jumped out of her skin. Speak of the devil! Why was President Xel suddenly talking to her? Wasn't she busy leading the entire Pandora military base attack response right now?
"Uh… you don't have to mind me." Jennifer turned off her screen. "I'm just… writing…"
And then Jennifer had a brilliant idea. "Urm… in your opinion, President Xel, what would be the best thing that could happen now?"
President Xel came over, her brow arched. "Hmm? Just Xel is fine, but what do you mean, Jennifer?"
Jennifer suddenly felt like a student caught red-handed and called to the principal's office.
"Well, uh… urm… maybe like if you could change anything to make the outcome of this battle work out." Sigh. Face it—this goddess wasn't even smart enough to know how to ask the right question.
President Xel patted her shoulder. "Don't worry, Jennifer. We'll pull through this. We always do."
And then President Xel paused, her hand stilled on Jennifer's shoulder.
Huh? Jennifer looked up at the older woman.
"But if…" President Xel said at last, "If I were to pray for something?"
"Uh, yes?" Jennifer blinked.
"I would ask to meet with Lord Micah.""What?" Jennifer was so surprised she practically gasped.
"Hn." President Xel tilted her head and regarded Jennifer. "Maybe we can talk more after this."
"What?" Jennifer said again.
But someone came with an urgent report, and President Xel excused herself and left.
It took just a moment for Jennifer to sit there, brain buffering… like her thoughts were stuck on airplane mode.
Then she remembered President Xel's ability—she could read people's narrative when she touched them.
In other words, Xel now knew all about Jennifer believing she was a goddess whose webnovels had come to life and that she could write new chapters to change the future.
Oh great! Now Rolly's boss think's he was dating a lunatic too.
Oh wait, but then why did President Xel say she'd pray to meet with Lord Micah? Was it a test?
Fine! Jennifer picked up her phone. She'd always been the kind of student who had to ace every test—this one included.

CHAPTER ?: THE SIDELINES OF BATTLE
QUINTIN'S POV
Quintin stepped out from the side of the building and onto the airport runway. Ahead of them was a full battlefield. No one had any time to pay attention to four uniformed cadets.
"Just move naturally," Bastien instructed from behind. "Act like we are here on orders."
Every now and then, Damien darted out and slashed at a stray roach, but nothing too dangerous came their way.
"Stop that, you idiot," Angus scolded. "You're going to draw attention to us."
"Over here," Bastien called. They were slightly off to the side of the battle, just behind one of the planes.
"If we draw the monsters down this alley…" Bastien started.
"Do you think we're robbing kids of their lunch money?" Damien sneered.
"Do you think I'll be so unambitious?" Bastien snapped. "Don't compare me with those small-time school bullies."
"Oh. Great underground lord. What are your plans?" Damien smirked.
Bastien sighed a long-suffering sigh. "I will use my power to bait the roaches. They will swarm in this direction. The moment they enter the alley, Quintin will set them on fire."
"It'll be cockroach hell." Quintin was excited.
"What do I do?" Damien demanded.
"You wait your turn," Bastien snapped. "One step at a time."
Damien groaned and stepped back. "Fine, I'll wait up here." He pulled himself up onto a low roof.
The problem with Bastien's plans was that they always involved too many steps.
From up here, Damien could feel the breeze and see the battle. The portal this time was huge! He could even watch Ronan the Dragon beat the living daylight out of the roach man.
Now that was the kind of fight Damien was meant to be in.
Ronan had always been one of his favorite Pandora Rankers back when the world thought it was a game. Seeing him fight in real life was like a masterclass in close-range combat.
The roach man kept trying to put distance between them and cast something, but Ronan would just hurl himself over and stab, punch, kick, or do something amazing.
This guy could probably beat up his old dad, the Alpha King.
Actually, as an Awakener, Damien also used short blades in close combat. Maybe a closer look would be educational—after all, that was why he became a Pandora Corps Cadet at PAU, right?
