Chapter 3 - Don't approach me again

[Third person POV:]

For a few moments, no one spoke or moved, other than Kyle, who was currently arranging his notes and keeping them inside his bag.

However, before he could get up, Amanda held his hand and told her friends, "You guys go ahead. I will join you soon."

The two girls exchanged glances before they nodded discreetly and said, "Come on, Ethan. We should go."

Ethan didn't move from his spot for a few moments, staring at Amanda with an uneasy expression.

Kyle rolled his eyes, wanting to say something, but in the end, he remained silent, and soon the blond boy left with the others.

Now, only the two of them remained in the classroom.

Amanda took a few moments before she finally said, "Kyle…I know we haven't been spending much time together but things will improve. Just give me some time."

"I guess six months weren't enough for you?" He asked calmly, not a speck of frustration or anger in his voice.

Amanda's shoulders dropped as she muttered, "Please understand me. I am just going through a situation right now and need some time."

"And why should I give you that time, Amanda? Do I owe you something? Or have you bought me from a slave market that I need to follow your words?"

Her gaze fell as she said, "Not a slave, Kyle…I am asking you some time because I believe you would understand me. We have been through so many things…you know me better than anyone. Just some more time…"

Kyle exhaled a sigh and said, "I have been trying, Amanda. Trying to repair things between us. I am giving you as much attention as I can. I text you at least ten times a day, so many calls you missed, so many dates you forgot."

"I know and I am sorry. As I said there is something going on with my life I cannot tell you-"

"Oh, and does that situation beg you to stay close to Ethan?" Kyle asked, his voice still calm but he was slowly losing his patience.

The way she was arguing, it appeared she actually wanted to save this relationship.

Kyle actually hoped this would go smoothly but as he thought even now, she wants to manipulate things to make it appear that she actually wanted to keep going but it was him who got fed up.

"What does Ethan have to do with all this?" She asked, her shoulders slumped.

Kyle chuckled mockingly, "He is the root of everything, isn't he? You think I am a fool, Amanda. Just like my parents, you also believe that I am just a naive little idiot but trust me I am not."

Tears bubbled in her eyes as she said, "No, I don't think that…and trust me, Ethan has nothing to do with this. He is just a friend, Kyle."

Kyle really wanted to say something here which he might regret later. Cursing was not something he usually preferred, especially against someone whom he once loved.

So, while retaining his calm, he asked her, "Okay then, look into my eyes and tell me that on your birthday, when I was waiting for you at your favorite cafe, wearing a cap, looking like a fool…at that time you weren't with Ethan."

She choked on her breath, and that was enough to confirm his suspicion.

He got up and stepped closer to her, "Tell me, when I was waiting for you, all alone in that place, you weren't busy with that guy."

She looked away, tears finally spilling but guilt was more prominent than grief in her eyes.

Kyle grinned, "You no longer allow me to see your phone, you no longer text me even though I could see you online, you even arrived at school with him."

She finally looked back at him, her shoulders trembling as she clung to his shirt and begged, "Please…Kyle…just once. Try to understand me…once."

Kyle heaved a sigh and said, "Look, I won't judge you or anything but I don't want to be a part of whatever nasty game you are playing with that group."

Her eyes widened as she shook her head, "N-No…you have got it all wrong!" she drew closer and said, "Please…for the sake of what he shared, try to understand my situation this once."

Kyle hummed and thought for a moment before he said, "If that's so then come home tonight with me." His voice was low, dangerously low when he said that.

A jolt ran down her spine as she looked away from him.

Kyle snickered, "What happened now? Were you not desperate? Can't you ditch your 'just friend' for your boyfriend?"

Her fingers loosened around his collar.

The answer was clear.

Kyle clenched his fist, his heart throbbing but he didn't allow himself to falter.

Taking his bag, he stepped past her and left his final words behind, "If you ever respected our relationship, Amanda, then don't ever approach me. Never."
