The Conversation
For the first twenty minutes, they sat in silence. Elara opened her sketchbook and began drawing the rainy window. The man, whose name she learned was Julian, eventually closed his book.
"That's incredible," Julian said, gesturing to her sketch. "You captured the gloom perfectly."
Elara smiled, blushing slightly. "Thank you. I find the rain inspiring."
"I find it inconvenient," Julian laughed. "I'm an architect. Rain usually means construction delays."
They spent the next hour talking. They argued playfully about coffee versus tea, discussed their favorite books, and laughed about how soaked their shoes were. It felt like they had known each other for years, not minutes.
