Chapter 10 - *࿏∘⊹A Small Lie Plོants*࿏∘⊹

Angelo POV ✰✰✰

Ci-N sat at the table with his laptop open, scrolling through files while Jay leaned against the edge of the desk beside him. Eman was across from them, spinning a pen slowly between his fingers.

I stood near the whiteboard, looking at the names written on it.

Keifer.

Yuri.

Two suspects left.

Keigan's name had already been crossed out earlier.

Ci-N finally stopped typing.

"I found something," he said.

Jay straightened a little.

"What is it?"

"Keifer's phone logs."

Eman looked up.

"You checked those already?"

Ci-N nodded.

"Yeah. I wanted to see where his phone connected to the towers that night."

I turned away from the board and walked closer to the table.

"And?"

Ci-N pointed at the screen.

"This shows the phone's signal throughout the night."

Jay leaned in to look.

Eman did too.

"The signal stays here," Ci-N said, tapping one of the lines on the screen.

Jay frowned.

"That's outside the mansion."

"Exactly," Ci-N said.

Eman tilted his head.

"So what's the problem?"

Ci-N clicked another file.

"According to Keifer's statement, he went back inside the mansion to grab his phone."

Jay nodded slowly.

"Right."

"But if the phone was inside," Ci-N continued, "the signal should've moved to the tower closer to the building."

He looked at us.

"But it didn't."

Eman sat back in his chair.

"So the phone never went inside."

"Looks like it."

Jay looked down at the table, thinking.

"But Keifer said he went inside to get it."

I crossed my arms.

"Yes."

Eman scratched the back of his head.

"Maybe he just remembered it wrong."

Jay shook her head slightly.

"Maybe."

But she didn't sound convinced.

Ci-N closed the file and leaned back.

"So either the phone logs are wrong…"

He paused.

"Or Keifer lied."

For a moment, no one said anything.

I looked back at the whiteboard again.

Two names left.

Two stories that didn't fully make sense.

"A small lie like that might not seem important," I said.

Jay looked at me.

"But sometimes," I continued, "people lie for a reason."

Eman glanced at the board.

"You think it matters?"

I kept my eyes on the names.

"Every detail matters."
