Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3:Hope in the Rain

In a quiet corner of Karakura Town, Sawada Tsunayoshi smiled and waved goodbye to a soul before him. It had been over a year since he had arrived in Karakura Town.

During this year, Tsunayoshi had fully mastered his Fullbring. His days were spent sleeping in class and his evenings hunting Hollows. In his free time, he had grown close friends with Tatsuki and Ichigo, and they often visited each other's homes.

Through this, Tsunayoshi became acquainted with the Kurosaki family: Kurosaki Isshin, who had lost his Shinigami powers; the Quincy, Kurosaki Masaki; and Ichigo's younger sisters, Yuzu and Karin.

Tsuna had once considered asking Masaki to guide him in Quincy techniques, but his Fullbring had been at a crucial developmental stage, so he postponed the idea.

Tatsuki's home was less structured, her dojo a free-for-all for three little kids. Yet, with his Fullbring, Tsunayoshi always emerged the victor in their playful brawls. Over time, he noticed a curious look in Tatsuki's eyes whenever she looked at him.

When he first began training Fullbring, Tsunayoshi had suggested to his mother that they move from Karakura Town. It was the first time he saw a non-gentle expression on her face.

His mother, Sawada Nana, firmly rejected the idea, stating that their role was to support his father, who worked outside, not be a burden to him.

After that conversation, Tsunayoshi realized the family would remain in Karakura Town for the foreseeable future. Thus, he had to minimize any threats to them.

From then on, Tsunayoshi began hunting Hollows. His Fullbring was remarkable, equipped with innate combat intuition. He could use Hollow encounters to refine his abilities.

Karakura Town lived up to its reputation as a spiritually dense area, with frequent Hollow incidents. The Shinigami stationed there were unknown, but Hollows persisted, giving Tsunayoshi constant opportunities to train.

During these hunts, he also encountered many lingering souls. Though not a Shinigami, he persuaded them to ascend to Soul Society whenever possible.

In essence, he carried out the duties of a Shinigami without the official title.

Over the year, Tsunayoshi explored Karakura Town thoroughly, even venturing slightly into surrounding areas. He had already identified the riverside from the anime—the location where Kurosaki Masaki was attacked.

He cherished every Kurosaki family member. The lively and cheerful Masaki inspired a desire to protect her if he had the ability.

Thus, he scouted the riverside in hopes of preemptively confronting the Hollow known as Grand Fisher. But it was cunning, uncatchable even by Soul Society, and never stayed long in one location.

With limited options, Tsunayoshi devised multiple approaches. He remembered the day of Yhwach's Auswählen was called "Everything All the Rain," the day Aunt Masaki died, leaving only rain-like sorrow for Ichigo and Isshin.

To stay informed, Tsunayoshi joined the school's meteorology club, responsible for recording rainy days. Heavy rain was his cue to patrol.

His mother repeatedly urged him to quit this dangerous club. Failing to persuade him, she prepared high-quality reflective rain gear and reminded him constantly to be careful.

Tsunayoshi pushed open the door, returning home during summer vacation. Having helped two souls ascend, he planned to rest.

"You're back? Is your club activity done?" Nana asked, accustomed to his habitual excuses.

"Hmm, no rain recently, so nothing to do…"

Before finishing, a TV alert warned: "Sudden heavy rain in Karakura Town, residents please take precautions..."

Tsunayoshi's expression changed. A premonition struck; he grabbed his raincoat and rushed out.

"Mom, I'm needed! Save dinner for me!"

"Be careful, come back early!"

Rain began lightly but intensified quickly. Tsunayoshi leaped into a nearby alley, moving unseen. Beneath his feet, a green light pulsed, propelling him into the sky above Karakura Town.

The movement came from Fullbring, manipulating Reishi to create a foothold. A green glow marked the Reishi beneath him.

As he bounded through the rain, he prayed this wasn't the day of Auswählen. If it was, he had to reach the scene.

At the riverside, Masaki confronted Grand Fisher.

The Hollow had four limbs and brown fur. A whip-like organ extended from its grotesque mask, used to disguise itself and lure spiritually sensitive humans.

Despite its cunning, Grand Fisher's combat skills were average. Its specialty lay in fishing and escaping.

Moments ago, it had posed as a girl by the river, drawing Ichigo close before revealing its form.

Masaki, a former pure-blood Quincy, naturally protected her son. Her Blut Vene and Blut Arterie were stronger than most Quincies.

A blue light shimmered along her forearm: Blut Vene, granting defensive power.

The Hollow, unaware of this, lunged at Masaki and Ichigo.

Masaki raised her arm, prepared to blast the Hollow with Heiligenschein, a tactic that had also helped her meet Kurosaki Isshin. Then, she noticed something alarming—her power was fading. Reishi would not obey her.

Panicked, Masaki embraced Ichigo, shielding him. Her last act as a mother was to protect her child.

Ichigo froze, terrified by the Hollow's form and overwhelming spiritual pressure.

Masaki's Reishi dissipated rapidly; she had no idea why. Death seemed imminent.

She closed her eyes and prayed for a miracle.

A whistling sound cut through. The Hollow struggled as a massive red arrow struck its claw. Pain forced it to turn and flee.

Grand Fisher couldn't comprehend this unstoppable attack.

Three more arrows pierced its limbs, pinning it firmly.

Grelle Machine Gun Arrow. Rapid, continuous arrows wrapped in spiral red flames, designed to pin foes.

Masaki turned to see the archer: average height, familiar, holding a longbow almost his size. The bowstring glowed red, a handguard adorned with faint red decorations.

Quincy?

Before she could react, a voice rang out: "Get down!"

Masaki dropped with Ichigo as a red flame the size of a millstone streaked overhead. Its tip revealed a massive arrow.

The arrow struck the pinned Grand Fisher without obstruction, completely incinerating it, its Reishi returning to the world.

Red Dragon Twister Arrow!
