Chapter 82 - Chapter 82

Lynn looked down at the broken half of the fishing rod in his hand, then looked up at the surface of the Black Lake.

A surge of anger shot straight to his head!

"Have I given you too much face?!"

Lynn suddenly pointed his finger at the Black Lake, making the "Eagle Finger" gesture, his anger meter instantly redlining.

Take a step back and see the bigger picture? No way! The more he thought about it, the angrier he got! His beloved fishing rod, which had accompanied him through many fishless trips, had just snapped in this damn lake for no reason!

How could he stand this?

Without a word, Lynn tapped his wand repeatedly, casting the Impervius Charm and the Bubble-Head Charm on himself.

A transparent bubble instantly enveloped his head. Lynn took a deep breath and dove headfirst into the lake!

At the moment he entered the water, a notification sounded in his mind:

[Ding! Mission Issued: Punish the culprit who damaged your fishing rod and make them pay due compensation.]

[Reward: Water Rhythm Synchronization]

[Water Rhythm Synchronization: No matter what body of water you are in, you will be able to move freely, see clearly, and not rely on breathing.]

[Use it well... young man!]

Lynn glanced briefly at the system panel. Right now, he was desperate for revenge; while the reward was good, finding the bastard who dared to destroy his fishing rod was more important!

He immediately focused all his attention back on the dark Black Lake.

One could only say the Black Lake was truly "black." The visibility was pitifully low, surrounded by a hazy dark green, with light struggling to penetrate through, forming blurry beams of light.

Maintaining the Bubble-Head Charm, Lynn paddled hard through the water, searching everywhere for the culprit fish.

After searching for a long time, he saw nothing but swaying water weeds, the occasional small fish swimming by, and broken bottles at the bottom; he didn't even see a shadow of the fishing rod.

Lynn suddenly slapped his forehead, causing the bubble to wobble.

"Wait! I'm a Wizard! I know magic! Why am I searching blindly like a Muggle!"

He immediately raised his wand and muttered, "Accio Fishing Rod!"

An obvious force came from the tip of his wand, trying to break free from his palm and lunge forward!

"It's working!" Lynn's spirits lifted. The fishing rod was indeed still there, and in that direction.

Lynn immediately swam in the direction guided by the wand.

However, he hadn't swum far when—

Swish—!

A large clump of water weeds, like a lurking venomous snake, suddenly shot out from below and to the side, coiling toward his limbs!

Lynn reacted extremely quickly, waving his wand.

"Flipendo!"

A shockwave repelled all the tangling weeds, stirring up a cloud of silt.

But the attacks didn't stop!

Suddenly—

A small, swift figure, holding a rusty Trident, lunged out from behind the murky curtain of water like a ghost, aiming straight for Lynn's neck!

This strike was fast and vicious, clearly a long-premeditated fatal sneak attack!

"Dammit! You're addicted to sneak attacks, aren't you!"

Shocked and angry, the sense of crisis brought by Peters Jolt made Lynn instinctively dodge to the side. At the same time, his left hand shot out like lightning, accurately grabbing the shaft of the lunging Trident!

At a glance, the attacker was small, with pale green and slimy skin, short pointed horns growing on its head, and an incredibly ugly face with bared fangs, snarling at him.

It was a Grindylow, a magical creature rated XXXX by the Ministry of Magic!

More importantly, the fishing line from his broken rod was clearly tangled around the Trident in the bastard's hand! The culprit had been found!

But weren't these things pack creatures? Why was there only one?

Just as the thought arose, as if to answer his question, the surrounding water shifted again, and several more large clumps of water weeds coiled toward his ankles like tentacles!

Lynn: "..." It never ends, does it!

Clang!

A timely Shield Charm blocked the water weeds attacking from below.

By the light of the spell, Lynn also took the opportunity to see his surroundings—not counting the one whose weapon he had just grabbed, there were nine more Grindylows looming in the murky water nearby, ten in total!

They were staring intently at him with their malicious little eyes.

Seeing these ugly creatures preparing to launch another group attack, Lynn's eyes turned cold, and he no longer held back.

"Expulso!"

He pointed his wand at the lake bed. The spell stirred up the mud and sand, instantly making the already dark lake water so murky that he couldn't see his hand in front of his face!

Great, now everyone was on the same starting line; no one could see anyone!

Lynn immediately cast the Disillusionment Charm, his figure blending into the dark, murky lake water, perfectly hidden.

He began his camper tactics—lurking and waiting for any stray Grindylow that couldn't help but show its face.

You ask what if they don't show themselves and just stay in a group?

That's even easier! If he found a group huddled together, he'd just toss an Explosion Charm over and be done with it! Guaranteed at least five would die!

Lynn began making subtle noises underwater to lure them.

Sure enough, some not-so-bright Grindylows were attracted by the sound, breaking away from the group and swimming in the wrong direction.

"Sectumsempra!"

Lynn saw his chance, and a sharp spell tore through the water, shooting out silently!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

As luck would have it, those lured Grindylows were almost lined up in a straight row!

The spell instantly pierced through their bodies, bringing out puffs of blood and sending them straight to meet Death!

The smell of blood quickly spread through the water.

The remaining Grindylows seemed stimulated by the death of their kind and the smell of blood. They emitted sharp shrieks, no longer caring about attacking, and began to flee in all directions!

Their movements were very obvious in the water currents and were immediately noticed by the keenly perceptive Lynn.

"Want to run? Have you asked me first?!"

Lynn snorted coldly, his wand waving rapidly as he pointed at a large patch of silt on the lake bed.

A large amount of silt quickly gathered, transformed, and expanded, constructing four tall walls in the blink of an eye. Like a giant matchbox, it trapped the area along with the Grindylows trying to escape!

"Salvio Hexia!"

"Protego Totalum!"

Two more protective spells were added in succession, instantly forming a temporary underwater barrier and completely cutting off their path of escape!

"Run! Go on, keep running!" Lynn lifted the Disillusionment Charm, revealing himself. Holding his wand, he approached the trapped Grindylows like a grim reaper.

Seeing no hope of escape, the Grindylows' ferocity was fully ignited. They let out piercing screams, brandished their Tridents, and launched a frantic group charge at Lynn!

Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!

Several Tridents stabbed almost simultaneously against the Shield Charm surrounding Lynn, making a sound like dense raindrops.

However, aside from the clanging and the ripples stirred up, they couldn't budge the Shield Charm in the slightest.

Lynn's eyes were icy; he no longer showed mercy.

His wand tapped repeatedly, and lethal green lights or invisible blades darted through the water.

"Avada Kedavra!"

The last Grindylow still putting up a desperate struggle was hit by that dazzling green light. Its body suddenly stiffened, the fierce light in its eyes went out, and the Trident in its hand slipped weakly, slowly sinking to the bottom of the lake.

The surroundings finally fell completely silent, with only blood slowly diffusing through the murky water.

Lynn looked at the Grindylow corpses littering the ground, flicked his wand, and let out a long breath, his anger mostly dissipated.

"Look at you... why did you have to come and mess with me for no reason? You even broke my beloved fishing rod. Truly... you brought this on yourselves..."

His gaze fell on the corpse of the Grindylow that had first ambushed him; the Trident in its hand was still tangled with his fishing line.

"...Wait!" Lynn suddenly realized, slapping his thigh hard. "I was so focused on revenge! I haven't asked for my compensation yet!"
