Chapter 121 - Shield

"A black torrent will devour the stars."

Under an ancient Aeldari idol, torches blazed around a pale-faced, extremely aged old man in soft, silken robes patterned like twinkling stars. His bent, hunched body floated in the air.

Psyker energy shimmered and danced around him, accompanied by tiny arcs of electricity and sparks erupting amidst the twinkling stars.

"The greedy wolf, where pleasure and crimson coexist, brings endless slaughter!"

A pair of long ears and pallid skin protruding from his hood revealed him to be an aged White Eldar, with white crystals gradually forming on his arms.

"Destiny."

After these two prophecies were uttered, the Aeldari seer's aura weakened to its extreme, and blood even trickled from his lips.

He pursed his mouth, attempting to speak another sentence, but blood gushed from his eye sockets, nose, and mouth as if it were free, a terrifying sight.

Even the pure Psyker energy on his body was gradually covered by evil pinkish-purple and dazzling crimson, an uncontrollable Chaos corruption eroding his last vestiges of life.

"Damn demons."

In the end, the seer's entire countenance was covered from head to toe by white crystals. After a "thud" sound amidst the interwoven red and purple, he exploded into a shower of crystals.

Aeldari crystallization is a process of aging and death that only occurs among Aeldari seers. When an ancient seer travels too far down the path of Psyker and the "Path of Foresight," and remains inseparable from the Sea of Souls, he will crystallize himself, transforming into a brilliant crystal.

His will could have persisted within the Craftworld, but once shattered, it was irreparable.

Aeldari Psykers are divided into two types: the "Path of War" and the "Path of Foresight." Seers are extremely powerful Aeldari Psykers whose ability is to use Psyker magic to peer into the future, thereby avoiding major future events, preventing or even manipulating various incidents, and thus better ensuring the survival of the Aeldari race.

However, the final outcome of such prophecies often results in good intentions leading to worse consequences, a common tradition of foresight-based Psyker magic.

Just as revealed by the future glimpsed through this magic, the Aeldari seer's face showed immense terror, clearly having seen something he shouldn't have, which caused his demise.

The sudden death of the powerful Aeldari seer instilled fear in the surrounding red-armored Aeldari warriors.

"Even the spirit stone is shattered."

An Aeldari in ornate armor, squatting before the shattered crystal fragments of the Aeldari seer, picked up a pinch of ash that slipped through his fingers.

"The Chosen Champion of Chaos will resurrect from the body of a human saint, and the glory of pleasure will shine even brighter."

The Aeldari's very existence would be greatly threatened; this was the initial prophecy.

The passing of every seer is a great loss for the Aeldari, let alone one who died from what appeared to be the handiwork of a Chaos God.

"What are you panicking about? What an unseemly display before the idol of Lord Uthwe!"

"Grand Sage Saldar has returned his soul to the Aeldari spirit throne; this is an honor."

This leading Aeldari warrior was the captain of the Aeldari Craftworld fleet.

"Our immediate priority is to drive those damned monkeys (a derogatory term for humans) out of our Craftworld!"

Craftworld vessels are no different from ordinary worlds, equipped with complete ecological circulation systems and life support devices.

And at this moment, the lush, unknown plant forests cultivated by the Aeldari were ablaze, countless artillery shells raining down on this once beautiful world, destroying every structure in sight.

Over a dozen figures, much taller than ordinary Astartes Monkss, clad in the special super-heavy Centurion armor of the Black Templars, stood in a line. Each held a heavy Bolter-type machine gun in both hands, similar to the Gatling cannons from Kenmyo Isayama's world, firing a torrent of metal at a rate of eight hundred rounds per second.

"Thump, thump, thump."

The air was thick with the smell of gunpowder, and the exploding muzzle flashes illuminated the black skulls on their fronts as if they were golden.

The frail White Eldar of the Aeldari were swallowed by this deathly torrent as soon as they appeared, torn into mangled limbs.

The Aeldari's small laser weapons were completely ineffective against the Black Templar Centurion power armor; green beams deflected off them in all directions.

But this was merely a microcosm of several Black Templar battlefields. Thanks to the Black Templars' continuous Great Crusade since their formation, their legion never lacked experienced veterans. Even new recruits underwent extraordinary combat experiences under the Black Templars' high-intensity crusades.

The Black Templars being referred to as overwhelming Black Orks on the battlefield by alien races was truly no exaggeration.

Other Black Templars Astartes Monkss were operating in five-man squads, infiltrating and conducting destructive activities within this Aeldari Craftworld.

Most of the Black Templar warships, meanwhile, were guarding the [Black Crusade] and attacking the Aeldari fleet.

As the Black Templar Centurion squad steadily advanced, several black figures suddenly appeared before them. Unlike ordinary Aeldari warriors, their armor bore several runes of Aeldari blessings—they were Farseers who specialized in the "Path of War."

These high-ranking Aeldari Psykers, seeing the ground covered with the corpses of Aeldari soldiers, their weapons and bodies as broken as their forms, and the smoking wrecks of their chariots, began to sing a tragic battle song.

"The dead are long gone, the rest grieve in vain; though victorious in arms, no sweetness is felt; let the pyre burn, the living weep; eradicate the barbarians to comfort the heavens."

High-intensity Psyker shields blocked all the bullets from the Black Templar Centurions; dense yellow bullets peppered the barrier erected by several Farseers.

As these songs continued, the sustained fire from the Black Templar veterans also ceased. They released their triggers, each pulling out a Bolter from their waist, preparing to shoot their comrades.

But this was not their intention; their stiff movements clearly showed that the Black Templar veterans were vehemently resisting this control.

The power of "mind control" was undeniable. Just as these Aeldari Farseers were about to make the Black Templar veterans kill each other,

A figure lurking in the shadows leaped up, rushing towards one of the Farseers with extreme speed.

Kenmyo Isayama approached from behind, intending to stab one of the Farseers in the back. These Aeldari are quite fragile; if a certain liquid supply tube in their neck is severed, the White Eldar will die.

These Farseers immediately turned their heads, their eyes glowing with a brilliant blue light, staring fixedly at Kenmyo Isayama like demons from hell.

"Screech."

Kenmyo Isayama's chainsword struck the Farseer's Psyker shield, sparking profusely as if sawing through an incredibly hard steel plate. Three Farseers against him alone; even with Kenmyo Isayama's Psyker power, he couldn't break through for a moment.

Another Farseer raised his hand, as if to grasp Kenmyo Isayama's neck and lift him.

But Kenmyo Isayama, surrounded by three high-ranking Aeldari Farseers, instead showed a sinister grin. From his wide sleeve appeared a long dagger, white and somewhat bone-like.

With a swift slash, the solid Psyker barrier immediately opened a gap, and the momentum did not diminish.

Kenmyo Isayama plunged the dagger fiercely into one of the Farseer's eye sockets. Upon contact, the Aeldari warrior began to convulse as if poisoned.

He clutched the Farseer's neck, feeling the painful tremors emanating from him.

Kenmyo Isayama just smiled and said,

"Deep breaths, yes, dizziness at first is normal."

The two Farseers tried to do something, but Kenmyo Isayama also slit their throats with similar bone-white daggers.

At this moment, the Farseers who were focused on controlling the Black Templar Centurion soldiers also noticed the anomaly of losing three of their number. Before they could turn their heads, they heard a low growl like a canine beast in their ears, realizing something was wrong. In their vision, crimson hounds made of red Psyker energy, with mouths full of sharp, crimson fangs, lunged at them.

These monsters, purely constructed from Psyker energy, completely obeyed Kenmyo Isayama's will, tearing these White Eldar to death.

For a time, blood and flesh flew everywhere, and the sound of beasts tearing at the White Eldar was incessant. Soon, the ground was covered with a large area of dismembered, tragically dead bodies.

Kenmyo Isayama pulled the bone-white dagger, covered in Aeldari blood, from a corpse, not forgetting to shoot the compass-shaped stones on the dead Aeldari with his Bolter.

These two bone-white daggers possess special effects against Psykers, such as armor penetration, allowing them to easily cut through Psyker shields.

This is due to their special material, ground from the ilium of the "Sisters of Silence," a special unit within the Inquisition and a bane to Psykers.

Kenmyo Isayama, seeing the real-time battle report, said to the Black Templar Centurions,

"Gentlemen, we need to quicken our pace, or the Sword Brethren will have already captured the enemy command center."

The Black Templars' Sword Brethren are equivalent to the First Company of other chapters, the elite of the elite among the Black Orks, all super-tough men in Terminator power armor.
