Chapter 96 - Inquisitor

"Is a C-rank simulation this intense?"

The familiar pain of a heavy blow to the back of his head struck again, and Kenmyo Isayama was still covering his head and wincing when he opened his eyes.

"I feel like my brains have been knocked out."

The first thing Kenmyo Isayama did upon regaining consciousness wasn't to observe his surroundings, but to subconsciously raise his hand and look at it.

It was a tearful tale; with so many races and factions in the Warhammer World, each time he raised his hand, it was a different experience.

The first time he raised a dog's paw, the second time it was a green hand, which caused Kenmei significant psychological trauma.

Fortunately, this third time, in the C-rank simulation, Kenmyo Isayama finally saw a perfectly normal human hand, without strange scales or peculiar patterns—everything was so normal.

Kenmyo Isayama was now sitting in a very comfortable leather chair, with a desk in front of him, cluttered with various books and documents.

A special obsidian box on the desk caught Kenmei's attention; it vaguely felt very important to him, and he instinctively reached out to touch it.

After hearing a voice say, "Biometric authentication passed, esteemed Inquisitor," the contents of the box automatically transferred to Kenmyo Isayama's hand.

It felt incredibly cold to the touch. He opened his hand, and before his eyes was an exquisite medal. A pale, ferocious skull with a menacing gaze was nailed to a cross, though the overall structure still faintly resembled the letter 'I'.

As his eyes met those of the skull, a flood of memories not belonging to Kenmyo Isayama instantly overwhelmed his brain, causing a splitting headache.

Amidst the torrent of countless memories, the largest scene appeared before Kenmyo Isayama.

In a massive Gothic palace, multicolored light streamed through stained-glass windows, casting a vibrant glow. Behind him, a magnificent, towering statue of the Emperor stood in a shrine, overlooking the hall, the Lord of the Imperium of Man holding a Holy Sword pointed towards the heavens.

"Child, from today onward, you are an Inquisitor of the Inquisition's Ordo Hereticus."

Under the Emperor's gaze, a gaunt, white-haired old man handed a young man, who was kneeling reverently before him with a fervent expression, a silver medal bearing the Inquisition's iconic 'I' shape, reflecting a chilling, cold light.

"You must remember that it is better for a hundred innocents to die by the Emperor's wrath than for one person to kneel before a Daemon and become a heretic."

"Go, Makonos, and bring destruction upon the head of every heretic."

"For the Emperor!"

These words seemed to possess a magical power, enough to make every warrior who heard them gladly sacrifice their life.

"For the Emperor!"

Kenmyo Isayama, his eyes unfocused, also murmured these words. Under the massive deluge of memories, he was drenched in sweat, his back completely soaked.

"Inquisition traitors. Heretics must die."

"For the Emperor, all sacrifices are necessary."

"Hoo, hoo."

Kenmyo Isayama gasped for breath, forcefully cutting off the reception of memories. If he continued to receive them, he would turn into an idiot.

"What is this, a fanatic?"

It was a memory filled with darkness, numbness, and bloody slaughter, depicting executions of various heretics, traitors, and other enemies of the Imperium.

Kenmyo Isayama understood only one thing: this body was an out-and-out executioner, having slaughtered countless lives. As long as he self-identified someone as an enemy of the Imperium, he would mercilessly cut them down, regardless of gender, age, or status.

To the traitors within the Imperium, this young man was absolutely a being comparable to a Chaos Daemon, the most terrifying enemy.

The place from which this body originated was the Imperium's Inquisition, whether it be the Daemonhunters, Ordo Hereticus, or Ordo Xenos; all Inquisitors there were like this. They coldly and efficiently plunged their chainswords into the chests of the Imperium's enemies, or cut off the heads of these traitors.

Macarnus-Elfman, an Inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus, Ordo Malleus, a ruthless slayer of heretics.

"Heretics and traitors will never be forgiven. I will ensure they find no peace in this world or the next."

This was the obsession that surged within Kenmyo Isayama upon occupying this body.

The authority of the Inquisition comes directly from the Emperor himself, superseding any other power structure within the Imperium. They are the Imperium's secret police, with each Inquisitor pursuing the mission of humanity's survival in their own way.

Daemons, xenos, and heretics constantly threaten the Imperium, and the three major Ordos dedicated to combating them exist for this very reason.

The Inquisitor Kenmyo Isayama now occupied was part of one of the three branches of the Imperium's Inquisition: the Ordo Hereticus.

Their mission is to protect humanity from internal enemies, combating internal threats to the Imperium such as traitors, mutants, heretics, apostates, and unsanctioned Psykers.

It can be said that even the powerful Astartes Monkss do not enjoy the company of an Inquisitor, regardless of which Ordo they belong to.

And the Ordo Hereticus is particularly prominent among them. They hold ultimate authority over any other organization within the Imperium, and an Inquisitor of the Ordo Hereticus can demand assistance from any other authority in the Imperium, whether it be the Imperial Navy, Astra Militarum, or Astartes Monkss, who must provide "assistance" when necessary.

Compared to their brethren in the Ordo Xenos and Daemonhunters, Inquisitors of the Ordo Hereticus are generally considered darker and more insidious.

Because their focus is on eradicating human enemies within the Imperium, this has transformed them into a shadowy, paranoid, and intolerant group.

And the I-shaped medal with a skull that Kenmyo Isayama had touched earlier.

That was the symbol of the Imperium's highest authority: the Inquisitorial Rosette.

When an Interrogator or Inquisitor Acolyte is formally promoted to Inquisitor, they receive their own Inquisitorial Rosette as a symbol of their identity and supreme authority, meaning that all their actions are carried out in the Emperor's name!

Inquisitors are typically ranked alongside high-ranking Imperial officers such as Space Marine Chapter Masters, Astra Militarum Warmasters, and Imperial Navy Fleet Admirals.

With this beginning, merely by virtue of his identity and status, and the resources he could mobilize, Kenmyo Isayama was already in an unassailable position.

This body was also a powerful Psyker. Kenmyo Isayama could feel the immense psychic power within him; he was a combat-oriented Psyker cultivated by the Imperial system.

Moreover, C-rank simulation was different from D-rank. It seemed to grant Kenmyo Isayama higher authority, unrestricted in this Warhammer World, without any assigned missions or timelines, as if waiting for him to explore it himself.

"Thump-thump... thump..."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the room door. Kenmyo Isayama straightened his clothes and pressed the door-opening button on the desk.

"Enter!"

To Kenmyo Isayama's surprise, it was a girl dressed in a white Battle Sister's habit who walked in.

This Battle Sister had golden hair, styled in a simple and beautiful "bob cut," and her long legs were faintly visible through the slit of her habit.

The Battle Sister looked at Kenmyo Isayama with great respect and said,

"Makonos, sir..."

But it would be a huge mistake to think she was just a pretty face. Memories of this young Battle Sister also surfaced for Kenmyo Isayama.

Elena-Exica.

She belonged to another equally renowned combat department of the Imperium, often working with the Ordo Hereticus in the cleansing of "heretics" and traitors. She was a Battle Sister, known as a "Daughter of the Emperor," though she wasn't fully armored at the moment.

"We are currently approaching the Andromeda star system."

Elena was Kenmei's adjutant, equivalent to a secretary.

"Should we contact the Imperial Navy fleet to join our Inquisition fleet and launch an Exterminatus on SPO-2 Home World?"
