Chapter 40 - Ghazghkull

"Lads! Not long ago, dem zoggin' black tin cans and da 'Umies launched a sneak attack on us!"

"Dey caused us serious losses. Countless brothers gone, and da fleet was cut down until only dis flagship of mine was left.

Standing before the crowd was a green giant, far taller than even the sturdiest Space Marine. At nearly six meters tall, he was undeniably the most terrifying killing machine on the battlefield.

He was clad in menacing armor adorned with jagged bone spikes. His left hand was a massive power claw capable of easily tearing through "tin can" defenses, while his right held a colossal crescent-shaped war axe. He was currently delivering a speech with passionate intensity.

Below the stage, countless Ork boys sat, clutching an assortment of weapons. Their eyes shone as they watched the towering figure in the center, their expressions uncharacteristically serious.

Because this was an undisputed leader. Every Greenskin present knew that following him meant an endless supply of fights. To the naturally bellicose Orks, a bloody and cruel battlefield was like a paradise; no Ork boy could resist such a temptation.

Kenmyo Isayama was also in the audience, but he was different. He sat in the front row, in a position where he could look directly at this terrifyingly massive green monster. It was clear how much importance the Great Warlord placed on him.

There wasn't an Ork present who didn't know the legend of this guy. Kenmyo had learned it by flipping through the memories of this body.

This monster was the Ork Warlord who made countless Space Marine Chapter Masters wish they could slay him on the spot: Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka.

A hero in the hearts of Orks.

His main force was so vast that a single one of his warbands could battle several Astra Militarum regiments, Space Marines from the Blood Angels, Salamanders, and Ultramarines, and even an army of Squats—a literal one-versus-five. This war had taken place on the Hive World of Armageddon.

Though defeated several times, Ghazghkull always managed to make a comeback. Massive numbers of Space Marine Chapters were deployed to that world to fight the terrifying tide of Greenskins. At the height of the conflict, nearly twenty Chapters of Space Marines and uncounted Imperial forces fought with suicidal resolve on the front lines to defend the Imperium's territory, yet the Orks continued to hurl themselves at the Imperial lines in a mad frenzy. This campaign was the [Armageddon Meat Grinder].

The battle had been a long-standing stalemate, but then Ghazghkull received a psychic vision from the supreme Ork gods, Gork and Mork. They told him to launch a galaxy-wide "Waaagh!"—a war of destiny. Armageddon was merely one part of this epochal struggle; he needed to push the fires of Ork warfare to more worlds and plunge the entire galaxy into a bloody, horrific war.

Ghazghkull immediately relinquished command of Armageddon and personally led a fleet toward another bloody and cruel battlefield.

That destination was Octarius, the region where the Ork Empire and the Tyranids were clashing. This was the destination of Kenmyo's fleet, currently in Warp transit.

Kenmyo's predecessor, Gul'dan, was one of the Mekboyz who had followed Ghazghkull's fleet when it left Armageddon.

However, the information about the Ork Warlord leaving the battlefield was quickly passed to Ghazghkull's old rival, Commissar Yarrick. A few days later, a pursuit began. Commissar Yarrick and the High Marshal of the Black Templars each led a fleet to hunt down Ghazghkull.

The result was obvious: before reaching Octarius, Ghazghkull's fleet was devastated, leaving only the World Killer—Ghazghkull's flagship—where Kenmyo now resided. The situation had been so dire that Gul'dan's former superior, Big Mek "Iron-Fangs," had died in the ambush.

"Luckily, our gods protected us and got us outta danger!"

It truly was the intervention of Gork and Mork that had plucked the ship from the Imperial blockade and shifted it directly into the Warp.

"Dere's a sayin'—wot don't kill us only makes us stronger!"

The lonely fleet hadn't discouraged Ghazghkull. Instead, upon exiting the Warp, he immediately annexed the fleet of another Ork Warlord, Warboss "Big Killa" Ugrok. His personnel and ship count were instantly and massively replenished.

That unlucky fellow, Ugrok, was currently sitting next to Kenmyo with a look of hesitation. He couldn't understand how such a battered ship held such a "hard case" who had the bite to swallow his entire warband and fleet in one go.

But there was something even more unthinkable: the Mekboy who had fixed the teleporter and beamed Ghazghkull directly into Ugrok's office was the very person sitting next to him—the original owner of this body, Gul'dan.

And so, the refitted Ghazghkull fleet continued its journey to Octarius!

However, there was one thing weighing on Ghazghkull's mind: none of the Mekboyz in the army he brought from Armageddon had ascended to the rank of Big Mek.

That was until Gul'dan appeared. This Mekboy came before Ghazghkull, claiming he had heard the voices of Gork and Mork telling him he had become a Big Mek. When he proceeded to hand-craft a Gargant (a massive war machine) larger than Ghazghkull himself out of scrap metal on the spot, Ghazghkull had no choice but to believe him.

It also thrilled him. Since Ghazghkull could hear the voices of Gork and Mork himself, didn't this mean he finally had a brother who shared his experience? He was so overjoyed that he personally organized a feast for Gul'dan. In the words of the 'Umies, it was a "double blessing."

Kenmyo saw Ghazghkull beckoning him over, so he stood up.

Given Kenmyo's height, standing next to the six-meter-tall Thraka made him look like a child standing next to an adult. A palm nearly half the size of Kenmyo's torso slapped his shoulder.

"Da 'Umie runts got a good sayin'—out wiv da old, in wiv da new. Iron-Fangs got dusted, and dat made me sad."

"But now, lads, CHEER!"

At that moment, several small Ork boys with heads glowing green like lightbulbs—Weirdboyz—let out brilliant green lightning from their hands like fireworks, illuminating the hall.

Thraka looked around at the crowd.

"Now we got a new Big Mek! Waaagh!"

"Cheer for Gul'dan! Waaagh!"

Hearing the Warlord say this, the naturally festive Greenskins opened their hearts and roared.

"Ulla! Waaagh!!!"

"For Gork and Mork! Waaagh!!!"

"Ooh ooh ooh! New Big Mek, new gubbinz!"

"And we're almost at Octarius, lads! Do ya know wot dat means?"

"Foight! Foight! Foight!"

All the Orks stood up instantly, waving their weapons. A few excited Orks even fired their guns into the ceiling.

"Dat's right! Waaagh!!! Kill all dem zoggin' bugs!"

"For Gork and for Mork! Waaagh!"

Ghazghkull Thraka smiled savagely, his massive axe slicing a huge rent through the air.

Though it was his first time shouting it, being in such a fanatical environment, Kenmyo couldn't help but roar at the top of his lungs.

"WAAAAAAAGH!"

The entire hall was enveloped in the green energy of the "Waaagh!" field. The Greenskins within became frenzied, creating an atmosphere of both wild joy and lethal intent.
