"Fire!" One of the people running around shouted. "Fire in Whistletown!"
Ismena's sight blurred for a moment, her heart pounding.

She ran to her horse, grabbed the reins and climbed atop with swiftness of lightning.
Her heels kicked it and the horse galloped straight to where more and more of the ashy rain was coming from, through the chaos, into the darkness.
It could not be.
There was no fire in Whistlehold. It was not Mojaha's way of hurting someone she loved because she had sought out a way to be free from his temptations. It wasn't… it wasn't…

Her grip around her reons tightened it the point that they felt numb and she urg d the horse to gallop even faster.
