The Bold Confession
Finally, the long-awaited sound of the school bell echoed through the hallways. It was 4:00 PM—freedom. The classroom erupted into the usual chaos of students rushing out, but I stayed focused.
"Hey, you guys go ahead. I'll catch up in a bit," I told my friends, waving them off. I had a mission. This was my chance, and I wasn't going to let it slip away.
I followed Shuva as she walked toward the school gate. The afternoon sun was beginning to mellow, casting a golden glow over everything. I caught up to her, my breath hitching in my throat.
"Shuva!" I called out. She stopped and turned around, looking at me curiously.
I took a deep breath and looked straight into her eyes. "I just wanted to say... you are impossibly beautiful. I've never seen anyone like you."
Shuva blinked, a small smile playing on her lips. "Well, thank you... Bhaiya!"
The word 'Bhaiya' hit me like a bucket of cold water. I froze in my tracks. "Bhaiya? Wait, who's a bhaiya here?"
She let out a melodious laugh. "Well, what else should I call you? Isn't that the polite way to address someone?"
"Does a brother ever say these kinds of things to his sister?" I countered, trying to regain my ground. "You know exactly what I mean."
