About Vaelis and Inspirations

Now that you've become aware of a few of Vaelis' skills, I will tell you a few unimportant mundane details about him such as his appearance pre-reincarnation, as well as after.

Satoru Satoshi

The life of Satoru Satoshi was not an easy one since birth.

Growing up, he was often ostracized and looked down on or made fun of for his weak and sickly constitution.

As a boy, Satoshi had barely ear-length pitch black hair and eyes like his father, but a frail and delicate body like that of his mother. He was a shy boy with a big (albeit fragile) heart, wishing only to give love and receive it.

In an attempt to "toughen up" satoshi, his father would constantly scold, discipline and even taught him how to use the sword.

That was until a sudden fire swallowed up the Satoru estate and took the lives of his father and mother. Satoshi has changed a lot since then.

As an adult, Satoshi's silky black hair had grown past his shoulders and his black eyes had grown sharper and more distant. He was a spitting image of his late father to the point that it was as if his father had been reborn into reality. He was tall, had a board and muscular build despite no record of working out.

He was quiet and observant, a genius in many ways, and unbeknownst to him despite his distant introverted nature he was quite popular.

He worked as a heart surgeon, somehow he had managed to become one of the best within his field of work. Though he had no aspirations or desires, in fact if he were to be asked why he does what he does he likely wouldn't have an answer. Instead, he always responded to any such questions with "I'm simply doing my duty." as if he had chosen just one thing, one goal, and made it his entire life's purpose to excel in it.

There was one thing he liked doing outside of work whenever he got the chance.

Surprisingly, he was quite fun of a single game. He wasn't into anything else, because to him there was only one game worth putting his time and energy into.

A game called " Hero's Chronicles " which was a MMORPG that he liked to play. How he discovered the game is unknown, however it turns out that he was one of the very first players since the game was released in open beta. 3 years later even after the game had settled, many players left the game, many joined, a few vets played or got online occasionally and yet, Satoshi made it a point to login every single day and never missed a day. Even when busy he always managed to find time to log on and do dailies and more. He was somehow always at the top of the leaderboards worldwide, and despite never spending money in the game he was somehow the holder of every cosmetic, some players speculated that he might have been a dev or an important player that the devs would give free items to. The only players who knew that he was an "OG" player were the vets that left or rarely came online.

Satoshi never cared about the strange popularity that he got, even in the game he wasn't particularly outgoing and was even distant and shrouded in mystery, making it even more confusing to him how and why others noticed him so much.

Instead, he was infatuated with the world of Hero's Chronicles. The world called Elyria, with 3 moons and a sky full of stars as if wrapped in a cosmic blanket. There were a vast selection of races, from humans all the way to dragons, and every decision the player made shaped the reality around them. This wasn't just a saying or some kind of exaggerated false advertising either. Players didn't get just 1 or 2 "options" and yet regardless of what they picked, the overall outcome and story stayed the same.

No, each option you chose, each word you spoke, each person you helped, ignored, killed, enslaved or redeemed mattered.

Players could become the biggest villain, a famous saint, or the greatest hero.

Satoshi was a hero, not only did he choose to use the hero character instead of creating his own like many others had done, but he helped, saved, and protected others. Though, he wasn't the typical hero complex having protagonists like in most games. He helped people when and if it benefited him, he didn't shy away from killing those who crossed him or got in the way, and he didn't take every commission or do things out of the kindness of his heart.

However, he never completely ignored those in need of help, especially those in especially dire situations like those being captured by slave traders, harassed or assaulted by swine in alleys or marketplaces, and so on. Oftentimes, he'd silently alert authorities to trouble or occasionally, he'd give tasks to other players or a local guild npc knowing that they'd be desperate to help. In some cases he'd deal with things on his own when no one was around, in one case he got rid of a secret organization's headquarters because they had kidnapped a bunch of vampire children and young women. He freed them and disappeared before they saw him, this in turn saved their race as vampires were few in number and were often hunted and hated. The ones who didn't learn to resent and turn into threats to the world lived silently and attempted to live normal lives like humans but unfortunately this only made them a target and an outcast to other vampires.

His actions helped them to save their children and women which in turn helped keep their already dwindling and secluded race from going extinct and in turn helped them to grow their numbers until they were a strong and numerous nation that became indebted to him.

He also did mundane tasks like helping to run inns, carrying goods for elders or injured travellers, hunting, learning to play the piano, and more. In Elyria, Satoshi felt at home. More so than he ever had in the real world. More than the game and its uniqueness, one of the biggest reasons he loved the game and played it so much was because of something others would likely call strange.

The voice acting and stories of characters, especially the hero protagonist that he played as.

The hero was an orphan like him, he was younger and lived in a village that ended up getting attacked by monsters, and for some reason, his younger sister had gotten kidnapped by those same monsters and taken away.

At the time, the hero was too weak to fight and protect anything, but that didn't stop him. At the ripe age of 15 he left what remained of his village and made his way through the forbidden and abandoned forest called "Forest of the Forgotten."

Because everything and everyone that goes into the forest disappears forever, and no one ever goes inside to save them as if they never existed. Left to be forgotten by time, and Eyria.

Some may say it's simple, but to Satoshi, this story and the world itself mattered greatly. That's why, in proper game-Like fashion, I want to give Satoshi "stats"

Satoshi's entire wrapsheet would look something like this:

Name: Satoru Satoshi

Age: 37

Height: 190.5cm (6'3)

Job Occupation: Doctor (Heart Surgeon)

Skills: Swordsmanship, Rudimentary Cooking, Sewing, Piano, Aoric Valve Replacement , Mitral Valve Repair , Heart Transplant , Bypass Surgery , Ect.

(You doctors/Nurses get it. I'm not taking medical classes or anything so I don'tknow many terms outside of the ones I came across in books as a kid! Please don't burn me at the stake if I get anything wrong!)

Hobbies: Improving Swordsmanship, Gaming

Also, as the sole surviving member of the Satoru Clan, despite doing nothing but working and playing his mobile game, he didn't lack money. This is why he was able to spend obscene amounts of money on his account without issue. Though, most people didn't know just how much he had paid for, he paid for convenience not aesthetic after all.

Now the last bit of unnecessary but very important informations~

I'm going to speed through them a bit since it's been several days/weeks since I wrote due to being too busy/tired to write and if I try to speak in fancy professional terms then it'll take longer and that's not good!

Satoru Satoshi QNA!

1. Despite always being rather beautiful (perk of having two drop dead gorgeous parents both with strong genes~)

Because of his weak health and timid nature, Satoshi grew up getting isolated, secluded, bullied, and ignored. He would often cry himself to sleep at night until he eventually stopped crying. :(

2. Satoru Satoshi is allergic to lemons. This is because the creator of the novel is allergic to lemons and they wanted to include that small "Easter egg" into the novel somehow but as Satoshi was their favourite character, they decided to give it to him. The second option was the "Masked Hero", you probably don't know who that is yet though..

3. Satoru Satoshi, having lived a very hard and lonely life grew up distant and became extremely introverted. With lots of issues that he either never resolved or didn't know about, he focused solely on studying and becoming the best doctor. In plain terms, he never had a single lover, nor did he consider having one until he died.

4. ^ Contrary to the previous statement, in his later years he had gained massive popularity with both men and women unbeknownst to him. Though most people were often too nervous to approach him, there were occasional men and women who were bold or confident and approached him but got rejected. Leaving only one individual who repeatedly approached him and clung to him.

5. Satoru Satoshi often had nightmares about his father and his parents' deaths. This resulted in him having a very bad relationship with sleep. Rather than sleeping in his free time, he usually played his game until he inevitably either fell asleep or returned to work. He never slept for longer than 2 hours.

6. Despite hating the sword, Satoshi never skipped a day of practicing. He would swing his sword daily for at least 1 hour at night before bed. He often swung silently under the moonlit sky.

7. Satoshi has a favourite genre of music. I wonder if you can guess it.

8. Satoshi secretly set for his inheritance to be transferred to his one and only friend when he died. It's a bit sad that he did that since he assumed he'd die before his friend did, and somehow he was right.

9. Satoshi gained strong traits from each of his parents and this time I'm not referring to his looks. He got his mother's innate kindness and compassion, but his father's coldness and stubbornness.

The best example I can give without spoiling anything is how kind and respectful he was as a child. Wanting to befriend any and everyone. However, after years of abuse and bullying, he didn't remain kindhearted and gentle like his mother or characters from a novel. Instead, he became distant and cold, sometimes even cruel in ways that made it clear who he took after the most.

That's the reason why in stories, he didn't enjoy most heroes who would continue to be naively gentle and optimistic even when everyone or thing stirred otherwise.

Compared to them, he much preferred villains, vigilantes, or heroes that matured more realistically rather than what's always socially acceptable. (I.e a hero who holds grudges, acts petty, etc. as compared to a hero who wants to save everyone and will always forgive you even if you clearly betray them. I think you understand, right?)

10. Lastly~ There are things Satoshi hates that others might not agree with completely. They're not really important so you can skip if you don't care but this is a small, somewhat specific, list that's not in any particular order:

Perverts

Harlots (as the author liked to call them)

Sore losers

Addicts (gambling, drugs, drinking, etc.)

Nepotism

Liars (Especially people who speak in circles or riddles with the intention of making things harder for you.)

Crybabies

Brutes

Toxic hierarchy (Usually when people in higher positions look down on and berate or abuse those below them either for no reason other than self pleasure/entertainment, or because of arrogance, inferiority complex, entitlement, stupidity, jealousy, ect. )

Alcohol

Smoke/smoking

Centipedes and Millipedes

Swords

Sour and spicy food

Being Dirty (Satoru Actually developed mild/severe OCD)

Here are some things that he DOES like/love:

Sweets (He's got an obsession with sweets. Knowingly or unknowingly.)

Small animals (things like snakes, cats, dogs, etc.

Money

Classical music

Stargazing

Sitting in silence

Children (not in a weird way, please don't burn him at a stake🙏😭)

Salty or savoury meals

Fruit (especially pomegranates, or fruity juice like grape juice or cranberry juice, etc.)

Reading (He enjoys a good story, he'll read just about anything if it's good and makes sense/is consistent or interesting. Yes, he likely read quite a bit of books, novels, webnovels, lightnovels, webtoons, manhwa, etc. I am especially sure since the author likes to add random things that they enjoyed into each of their characters, and it's my head canon that the author made Vaelis- ahem.. I mean Satoshi, enjoy lightnovels and stuff.)

Winning (Satoshi is surprisingly, or not surprisingly… quite competitive and hates losing. Alternatively, he doesn't enjoy settling for second or third place either, he does his best to be the best/first place in everything he does. Be it school, work, gaming, or anything else, he has to be the best or he feels immensely disappointed and sometimes empty or irritated.)

Cute things (contrary to how he looks and acts, he's quite weak to cute things/people acting cutely. This makes me think of him having children and his children having children and him being the strict/cold grandpa that everyone is scared of but he's really weak and "stupid" for his grandkids because they're cute. Iykyk, lol. I just really like that kind of troupe.)

That's it! The next chapter will probably just be a short quick bit, solely focusing on how magic works in the world or something… but honestly I'm thinking of just using the same principles as the Tensura series since outside of the naming = evolution but, there's not currently much that's the exact same imo.. the monsters are basically default material for isekai's/reincarnation/transmigration stories, systems are pretty much everywhere (though I'm thinking of making the system a skill or something idk yet. Getting pretty tired of the whole system thing for every story ;;;) And Tensura probably isn't the only anime/story to have a character who is a slime or nonhuman creature, so having this protagonist being a tree seems pretty cool and unique… but maybe there's actually more trees and I just don't know because I haven't came across any "reincarnated as a tree" type stories🤔

Anyways, what I mean to say is~ There's nothing wrong with taking a bit of inspiration from something cool and/or successful, and that's why rather than trying desperately to shy away from doing anything that others have already done and then getting depressed when people say it's very similar/the same, I think I'll actually embrace and take a few pages out of other people's books and just change a few things (or keep it exactly the same and just credit the author or story/anime/ I got it from. SPEAKING OF ANIME/Novels, I still haven't gotten around to watching the slime series ;;;;

I really want to but I'm really busy and by the time I remember to watch it I'm too tired or just not able to focus… and I would love to read/listen to the lightnovel that I keep hearing about but I can't find it and don't know where to find and read it.

I'm a huge Rimuru fan but I can only learn so much from random YouTube shorts! Anyways! Before I continue with the random knowledge for this series, talking to you guys is really addictive even if there's no one here right now to respond!

Since I don't have anyone else to yap about this to.. please bear with me for a short while 🥺

I have a few things left to say so..

The series I personally really like/enjoyed and want to take inspiration from(I either haven't watched/read, read/watched a long time ago but still think about, or I want to but haven't gotten around to it yet but I like whatever it is that I DO know about) are as follows:

Re: Zero

That Time I got Reincarnated As A Slime

Overlord

So I'm a spider, so what? (PLEASE FORGIVE ME IF I GOT THE NAME WRONG😭🙏)

Reincarnated with just my smartphone (Was the name longer??? I don't remember- did they ever come out with the second season???)

Irregular (at Magic?) Highschool (Not really sure of the name again…ngl I barely remember this anime, I just know I really liked it as a kid. They had pretty nice uniforms though :] )

Oh- there's one anime where there were students that got isekai'd and the protagonist was so op that all he had to do was snap or something and everyone would die? Idk, I heard it was a good anime but then I haven't seen or heard anything about it since… I don't even remember the name but I figured someone would know.)

Oh! There's a lot of manga I used to read growing up, related to slimes… I used to really love slimes and I think it was a mild obsession especially because around middle school, kids started making slimes but I never learned how to make them and wasn't allowed to play with them- anyways! There used to be a manga I especially liked called water magician or something idk but the protagonist had an army of really adorable slimes and ahhh it was so cute- ahem.. I digress, apologies.

That pretty much concludes my list of inspirations, kinda? As you can see, I've heard of, seen, or planned to read/watch the anime above and I'm pretty sure it's because they're all decently similar in some way or another.

I just hope I can somehow find time to actually watch any of them so that I can properly pick out what it is I want to use and what it is I'm already "using" without knowing. (Honestly, if I'm already making things similarly or exactly the same then I suppose that's a win since it means I'm doing things that work well, right?)

Thanks for reading! Please remember that this is just the AUXILIARY not the actual story! If you don't care for random info dumps or anything, that's fine! Just go to the prologue and start from there!
