Chapter 1 - A New Devil Hunter

Red Grave City, a town known for its proclivity for the supernatural and filled with the sound of sirens and alarms that have become commonplace.

Within such a damnned city, in a small apartment tucked near the edge, lay a young man. With smooth, dark ebony skin, silky black hair, and a well-built, toned body.

As the young man slept, a voice spoke aloud, deep and vile as it spoke.

"Rise, young one...this timeline is doomed...rise as the will of balance,"

The young man was breathing heavily, covered in sweat, and looked as if he had just finished a workout.

"W...what was that?" the young man asked as he lingered on the voice

Trying to calm himself and catch his breath, the young man began looking around the room. The realization struck him: this was not his home. Taking in the dark, dingy bedroom, the young man removed the blanket and stood up.

"Where am I? And what was the voice earlier? It seemed so wrong," The young man said as he began to walk through the apartment.

Opening the closet door, he found that it led to a bathroom. Walking inside, he caught a glimpse of a mirror, and for what he could see, he looked the same, but as his eyes saw his chest, he took a step back.

To his utter surprise, he saw an eye on his chest. Well, the indent of the eyes that was closed.

"What the hell?" he muttered as he slowly moved his hands towards it.

But then, suddenly, the eyes shot open, revealing black eyes with a dark blood-orange iris and a slit in the center.

"It seems you are awake now," a voice spoke in the young man's head. Different from the one who originally spoke. This one was calm and spoke in a low voice.

"Who's what?"

"Me...the one attached to you," the voice replied.

"The eye...wait, what is this, am I off drugs or something?" the young man asked as the situation became too much.

"Drugs...no harmful substances are in your body. I have eradicated all of them," the voice replied

"What are you? Where am I? And most importently how is an eye attached to my chest?" the young man asked

"I...I don't remember. I heard a voice speak to me. Next thing I new I felt myself being connected to you," the eye replied

"The voice...so you heard it too?"

"Yes...If I had to assume it did this to us,"

"But how...and why, this doesn't make sense," The young man spoke as he held his head, trying to make sense of what was happening

"Well, there is no point in dwelling on the how. We are connected. Its best to find out where we are and what the voice was speaking about," the eyes replied as it began looking around

"Give me a moment its still strange having an eye in my chest and waking up in a place that's not my house," the young man replied

"Very well, I will examine our surroundings as you calm yourself," the eye spoke, closing itself

Suddenly, the young man felt that he could feel everything around him, from the bed to the doors and the birds outside.

"What are you doing? I feel strange," the young man asked

"I'm simply sensing for any demonic energy. It seems he is in the human worlds," the eye replied

"Demonic energy...are you a demon?" the young man asked

"Yes...but for some reason I cannot remember by name, nor my history,"

"Great, I have a demon in my chest," the young man laughed as the world's almsot didn't seem real to him

"Accept it fast because there is a demon moving towards us. It's rather fast," the eyes spoke

"What?!"

Before he could fully register those words, the single window in the apartment was shattered as a long, slim god-like creature with dark scales, a long, two-pronged tail, and sharp hands appeared before him.

Seeing this, the young man froze as he didn't know what to do.

"Run now," the eyes spoke as the young man's body was forced forward into the living room area.

With a growl, the dog-creature followed and leapt to attack the fleeing man. But suddenly the young man's body twisted, dodging the dog and throwing a backhand punch that knocked it back.

"What was that?" the young mana sked as he looked down at his hand

"Follow my lead, and we will survive," the eyes replied

Not enjoying something, being able to control his body, the young man also wanted to live, so he aggressively and quickly grabbed a knife from the counter.

As the dog got back up, growling at the young man, it rushed forward, its mouth open, razor-sharp teeth ready to bite.

Meeting the wolf head-on, the young man swung his blade down, but felt his body adjust as he swung the blade from the side. Stabbing into the dog's neck, the man fell to the ground with the force of the collision.

Still alive and kicking, the dog's tail shot forward, about to pierce the man's hand that held the knife, but when it was less than an inch away, his arm pulled back with the help of the eye.

"Focus!" the eyes spoke as they glowed slightly.

"Yeah, I know!" the young man yelled back as he lifted his fist and brought it down on the mutated dog's head. With each swing, he heard an audible wet crunch under the force that caused his blood to run cold.

But not stopping, the man grabbed the dogs proned tail and stabbed it in the mutant's neck, causing its body to go limp.

Seeing this, the young man fell back, his fist covered in blood, as he let out a heavy sigh. Looking down at the dead mutant dog, the young man was filled with more questions as something even more surprising appeared.

Before him, a floating blue screen appeared, displaying a message.

[Congradulation of Killing a Low-Rank Devil Dog]

[You have passed the test]

[Demon Hunter System Activated]

"What...demon hunter system, what is this?"

"I never heard of anything like this. But it may have answers to our situation," the eye added

"True...oh, by the way, what can I call you since calling the eye won't fit right?" the young man asked

"...Azazel...call me Azazel. What about you, human?" Azazel replied after a moment

"You can call me Aurelian Viremont,"
