Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: One Night

Charles hugged Catherine Zeta-Jones and listened to Richard Gere cursing outside for three minutes until he left, then Charles finally relaxed.

"What did you do?" Catherine Zeta-Jones, who had been scared at first, became a little interested. What did he do to make Richard Gere so angry?

"Hehe," Charles felt a rush of satisfaction remembering what he had done, and he started laughing to himself.

Catherine Zeta-Jones patted Charles's arm, signaling him to let go.

"Oh, sorry!" Charles quickly let go of Catherine Zeta-Jones, whom he was hugging. The Lady had drunk too much and was a little tipsy, and the previous panic had left her a bit disheveled.

"What did you do?" Charles looked at Catherine.

Catherine nodded, staring at Charles. Young and handsome, and emboldened by alcohol, Catherine Zeta-Jones pulled Charles to sit on the sofa.

"Just now in the restroom, Richard Gere and a woman were in the stall..."

"You threw several dirty rags soaked in cleaning solution in while they were doing their business," Catherine's mouth dropped open in surprise when she heard this. She seemed to want to laugh but held back.

Finally, she couldn't help but laugh, and Charles also started laughing. That damn Richard Gere, this was just a small lesson.

"Alright, I'm going back. Richard Gere should have left," Charles said, standing up.

Catherine Zeta-Jones also stood up but stumbled, unable to steady herself. Charles quickly embraced Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Their eyes met, and in the warm embrace, both could smell the alcohol on the other.

Their lips met, and the adult man and woman did not emerge from the lounge.

By the end of November, "my big fat greek wedding" had also finished filming, and Charles, of course, returned to Los Angeles. As for Catherine Zeta-Jones, he hadn't seen her since that night.

Evelyn brought Charles, who had returned from Chicago, and the newly signed Scarlett Johansson to meet with Sofia Coppola.

"This must be Scarlett, right? I actually have a script idea that I want to turn into a movie," Sofia Coppola said, looking at Scarlett Johansson with a smile.

Then they started talking about the script, mainly for Scarlett Johansson to hear.

The 17-year-old Scarlett Johansson was indeed graceful and alluring, with a sexy beauty.

Evelyn was still very polite to Sofia Coppola. Although she hadn't really established herself in the film and television industry yet, her surname Coppola made it impossible for Evelyn not to take her seriously.

Francis Coppola's daughter!

Scarlett was reading the script, and Sofia Coppola explained, "It's mainly about two foreigners in a foreign land, Tokyo, who have an extramarital affair because they can't integrate into the local culture."

"For the male lead, I hope Bill Murray can play him, and for the female lead, I prefer Scarlett's performance."

The speaker was unintentional, but the listener was attentive. Coming with his mom today, he hit the jackpot.

Isn't this the script for "lost in translation"?

After Charles finished listening, before Evelyn and Scarlett could express their opinions, he asked, "Sofia, why is the story set in Tokyo and not somewhere else, like Shanghai in Asia?"

The three were stunned. Evelyn patted her son and said awkwardly, "Charles has been working with Tom Hanks' production company on the filming of a small-budget romantic comedy film, 'my big fat greek wedding.' He just returned from Chicago not long ago."

Beautiful. Evelyn was indirectly praising her son for collaborating with Tom Hanks on film development.

Scarlett Johansson also turned her head to look at Charles again. She had always thought that Mrs. Evelyn Cape was the one behind the production of that movie, and Charles was just there to learn.

So that's how it is!

"Oh," Sofia became interested and explained with a bit of amusement, "Because I lived in Tokyo for a while when I was around twenty. I was deeply moved, which gave me the idea for this script."

"Hmm, an old man and a Lady lost in love in a foreign land?" Charles nodded in agreement, "The script's gist is concise, and the story is simple and smooth. It's a very good idea!"

Sofia smiled, looking at Evelyn with a beaming face, "This young man is quite interesting, but Evelyn, I can finish the script very quickly. Can you help me find a film company to support the film's development?"

Evelyn, however, looked puzzled. As Francis Coppola's daughter, why would such a small-budget film need any external help?

Charles seemed to notice his mother Evelyn's confusion and asked, "Sofia, you want to direct this movie yourself, don't you?"

"That's right, I want to be the director! Although the film's budget doesn't need to be too high, finding support is still a bit difficult, and I also don't want to always ask my family for help whenever something comes up."

Charles suddenly stood up, "Sofia, I'll take this story. Cape Film Production Company will support your creation!"

"You?" Sofia Coppola turned to look at Evelyn again, full of doubt.

Charles ignored her and said, "The script isn't finished yet, it needs time. Sofia, just wait until next April when my movie 'my big fat greek wedding' is released. I'll have the funds then."

"This? You..."

"Don't worry, if 'my big fat greek wedding' fails by then, I can still persuade Tom Hanks' film company to support you. Mrs. Hanks thinks highly of me!"
