Noctis pov
I couldn't sleep that day, not after what happened. It's three days later and it's my first operation.
"Where are we going?" I asked the soldier next to me as i put the metal armour around me the steel clinking against itself.
He looks at me uncannily. "It's pretty much a suicide mission. They're sending all their troops and we're sending all of ours aswell to the border, our mission is flanking them and killing the reserves." He growls out, not even bothering to look up at me from the ground.
"Sure dude, i doubt th-" before i could finish i hear a loud whistle from the commander "c'mon you guys! What're ya waitin for?" He shoves specifically me for whatever reason.
'I have a bad feeling about this.' a thought lingerd in My head
A few hours later of walking on the snow I raise up my head, a steamy breath coming out of my mouth as I stared at the direction we're headed to.
"When are we reaching the destination?" I turned my head to the captain
"Few more minutes, bear with it." He spat out harshly.
"Fuck off." I growled before turning my head Infront and just walking forward.
Before hearing a whistle graze through my ear and the sound of a dull body hitting the snow besides me. "What the?"
I stared at the place the sound came from, the body of that same soldier i spoke before going to this mission. An arrow stuck in his left eye piercing through his head.
Before i could even collect myself i drop to the ground, my breath going ragged. Fear taking over me and playing dead.
I closed my eyes as I heard that coward captain flee. My heart raced as I heard the sound of footsteps on the soft snow. "Oh we got two of em reallll good." A man said proudly to someone else.
"they're probably expendables. Don't get too excited." A woman's voice cut through the man's own. My breath went shallow as I heard them walking away.
'fucking dimwits.' I got up without a sound. The girl went ahead leaving the guy alone with his back turned to me.
I lunged forward, putting a hand on his mouth as he kicked flailed before cutting his neck before he could scream. 'ill leave him here and wait. She's gonna come back eventually.' i thought as i climbed up a tree, dropping the man's lifeless body to the ground.
I waited for her to come by and...'got her.' she ran towards his body screaming and crying
"Why?!" She yelled out in the middle of the forest, her voice echoing through the white landscape. I jumped up from the tree and landing on her face. Smashing her skull in but also injuring my leg from falling so high.
"Ah you bitch.." I layed on the snow grabbing my leg as both their bodies surrounded mine, their blood mixing together in the snow. "Ah fuck... It's fine... It's just twisted, i think so at least." I panted heavily whilst gritting my teeth.
I slowly crawled up towards a secluded tree in a safe spot. "I'll just... Rest here for a moment." I leaned on the hard wood, using the clothes of the dead comrades a cover from the cold. "I guess I'll do this operation solo." I sighed before closing my eyes as guilt flooded me.
How dare i take a life
How dare i take a life when i value mine just as much as they do?
But i didn't care. Because "it's either them who dies, or me."
