Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Innocent Neighbor

Ellen and Flint screamed at each other in front of the bathroom. Seeing that muscular body openly made Ellen feel hot in the morning. Although she had seen a muscular body during her date with Harley, Flint was more tempting in her eyes. The sculpted muscles on his body, coupled with his still-wet body, made her mind start to get dirty. She immediately shook her head quickly as she stared at Flint's foam-covered face. She slowly waved her hand in front of her friend.

"Flint, can you see me?"

Flint was still holding his towel covering his lower body. "Ellen! Why did you suddenly barge into my residence? You just startled me!"

"Because... I was just wondering what happened to the water supply in the apartment. Just now, when I was about to wash the dishes, the water suddenly stopped flowing. At first, I thought it was just my house that was affected." She laughed awkwardly for a moment, staring at his friend's Santa Claus-like face. "Speaking of which, you look like Santa Clause."

"Aish! Don't talk too much! I also want to find out what really happened. When I was about to rinse my hair, the water suddenly stopped flowing."

"So, that's why you–"

"Can I ask for your help? I need you to call a repairman to fix our unit's water pipes."

Ellen slowly led her friend away from the bathroom. She wiped away all the foam covering her friend's handsome face with her fingers. The excessive foam made it difficult to remove, so she had to stand on her tiptoes and raise her head directly in front of her friend's face.

As the handsome face came into view, they exchanged nervous glances. Ellen struggled to blink, seeing the intense look her friend was giving her. She immediately looked away, took a step back, and cleared her throat.

"By the way, put on your clothes while I call a technician to fix the water pipe."

Flint responded with a pleading face, pointing to his head, still covered in foam. "So, what about my hair?"

Ellen burst out laughing, patting her friend's arm. "You figure it out yourself."

"But, I feel uncomfortable if–"

"Why are you so fussy? I was so kind to help you call a technician! You act like you're rich and never have to live with hardship."

In the end, Flint remained silent, rather than have his identity revealed. He immediately walked over to the gallon jug placed in the corner of the wall and picked it up. "Okay, I'll give up my drinking water."

Ellen couldn't help but laugh again at her best friend's ridiculous behavior that morning. Despite his handsome face and gentle nature, Flint also had a silly side. She really liked a man who always showed his true personality. Unlike Harley, who had always been sweet to her, who turned out to be trying to deceive her. She really hoped that Flint was the only man who was truly kind to her.

"Flint, this is the first time I've seen someone give up their drinking water to clean themselves."

"Because appearance is always my number one priority. I can buy another gallon later." Flint took a moment to unscrew the lid of the gallon jug in the bathroom, then poured it into an empty bucket. "By the way, how long are you going to stand there? Are you going to peek at me showering?"

Ellen turned around quickly and walked away from the bathroom. One of Flint's flaws was that he always spoke matter-of-factly, not even considering who he was talking to. She lowered her head and grabbed her phone to call a technician.

A few minutes passed, and the apartment technicians immediately began repairing the pipes and water faucets in their apartment units. Meanwhile, they were still monitoring the technicians at their respective residences, forcing them to postpone their morning activity—breakfast together.

After waiting for half an hour, the water finally worked again, both in the bathroom and several other areas. Ellen thanked the technicians and then returned to the neighboring unit to visit Flint. She still couldn't forget the ridiculous moment they'd just had.

Seeing Flint's handsome face light up again, her eyes were once again easily seduced, barely able to blink. Now, it was just the two of them in the Flint residence. Even though Flint was dressed simply, he still made her heart race in the morning.

"By the way, I made an omelet for you earlier. But unfortunately, because of that strange incident, you had to postpone your breakfast."

Flint responded with an awkward smile. "It's okay. The important thing is that you cooked me an omelet." He took a moment to put a spoonful of omelet rice into his mouth. His head immediately bobbed as he tasted the omelet, which tasted just right. "It's still very delicious."

"Really?"

"I love your omelets. Looks like I'll have to bother you again tomorrow."

Her lips pouted, her arms folded. "Speaking of which, why are you so eager to trouble me? Has your hobby been bothering your neighbors? When you lived in your old house, you always had your neighbors cook for you?"

"No."

"But, if I saw your attitude earlier when you came out of the bathroom without any clothes on and your face was covered in foam, I'm sure you really like to bother other people."

A mischievous smile spread across his handsome face. He slowly leaned forward toward the beautiful face before him. "Now let me ask you a question. Are you the one who has a hobby of peeping at men bathing?"

Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. "What did you say? I wasn't even peeking on you on purpose!"

"If it wasn't intentional, how come I happened to come out of the bathroom when you were standing in front of the bathroom?"

"That's because I just wanted to make sure you were there!"

Flint burst out laughing as he greedily munched on his omelet. "I wonder what tomorrow will bring. Will today's incident be a repeat of itself?"

"Can you please stop saying those embarrassing things?"

"I just like to bother you."

"So this is your true nature? You like to bother other people when you've always been gentle with me?"

drrrt…drrrt…

In the midst of their argument, a text message notification from her ex-boyfriend suddenly appeared. Ellen lazily read the message, as she had suddenly requested a meeting. If she didn't comply, things would only get worse. Her expression returned to a slump, despite having been comforted by Flint.

"What's wrong, Ellen?" Flint asked softly.

"I have to go now. There's something important I have to do."
