Chapter 2 - A day at the Market.

A day passes by, Gerono starts working in the library, dusting old books, rearranging dictionaries and admiring the age of everything around him.

He spots and grabs an old notebook, only to find out it was empty, "I guess nobody owns this thing.", he remarks, flipping through the pages.

Not long after, a few young women enter the library, one takes a sight of Gerono, covering her mouth as she spoke in a little voice, "The new librarian is... A noble?", she asks.

Gerono looks back, as he heard the bells ring from the door, "Good morning, young ladies. Please refrain from bringing food items, and if possible, keep your voices to yourselves." He tells them, his tone giving a sense of melancholic vibe.

"Yes, Sir... What's your name?", she asks

"Gerono De'Lithesia. You can call me Sir Gerono.", he smiles afterwards.

Then, the women start looking for things to read, searching the newly cleaned shelves for tale of love.

Gerono himself has started writing in the notebook, something along the lines of 'Rußwäll isn't all that bad, it's actually good.'

Then he starts to wonder; What's with the Elisaviths? They seem to be very powerful people.

"I'll pay a visit to the Veilßhän manor someday." He says as he closes the notebook before looking outside through a window, "Nowadays, everything feels dull."

He turns around, then looks at the books, "ever since I went here everything began to have color once again.", he smiles to himself, glad he had found his place in the world.

The morning passes by and sun begins hit noon, Gerono walks outside, making way towards the Veilßhän manor.

William passes by and spots Gerono in the crowd, "Hey! Idiot! Over here!", he yells.

Gerono twists his head to find the source of the shout, "Goodness, there you are!", he says as he slowly weaves through the people.

"So, where are you heading?", he asks William.

"The market, looking for something to eat.", he points at a road.

Gerono begins walking along with him, "I'm tagging along.", then he starts tying his hair to a ponytail.

A few people set their eyes upon him as he walks with William.

When they reach the market, they head to a stall that sells bread, "Sir Veilßhän? Who's the new noble? What's for today?" He asks, smiling brightly.

"One of the finest loaves, Gerono." William remarks, pointing at a fine bread.

"We also have pastries." The vendor remarks.

Gerono scans over the choices, until his eyes land on a particular one.

"Beffelspie, please?", he requests as he hands the money.

"Quite the taste you have, Sir. How about you, Sir Veilßhän?", he asks.

William replies, "Ah, same as his.", he looks back, spotting a carriage stop.

As Gerono pays for the bread, he asks "Also, why do you people always carry swords here? And also guns, why is that?"

William scoffs, amused of his confusion, "In here, we have a rule."

"What rule?", he hands out the Beffelspie.

"A neck for a tooth; You mess up real bad? Blades, guns, and anything else that can kill go straight to you."

A bit of color drains from Gerono's face, "Huh... Scary..."

They both begin to walk, William handing Gerono coins for the Beffelspie he paid for.

The carriage from earlier opens, then a stunning young woman descends, along with her older sister, it's the Elisaviths.

Red roses as motifs for their black and elegant dresses, the older one's irises are red as the flowers they wore, the other's soft, eyes gold as the sunlight.

William squints and approaches Rose, the older one, "Hüsen Åhn, Jüns Rose.", he greets.

(Hüsen Åhn simply means 'Good day' in the noble tongue, Jüns is the formal term for 'lady')

"Hüsen Åhn, William", she greets back, then looks at a dumbfounded Gerono, "Who is this? Which house is he from? And why does he not have anything for dueling?" She questions.

William scratches the back of his head, "He's from the south. Gerono, May you introduce yourself to Madame Rose Elisavith II and her sister, Amelia Kartha Elisavith... Such long names."

Gerono manages to stutter a few words, "G-Good day, Lady Elisavith... And a taller and scarier lady Elisavith."

Rose's eyes widen in shock, "What Felosieß are you to greet us like this?"

The younger one, Amelia, starts tugging at her sister's hem, "Sister... He's been staring at me for a little too long." She squeaks out.

William suddenly yanks Gerono to the side, "Quit embarrassing us, Lad!".

"I'm so sorry... I-it's that... I've never seen a western woman that adorable yet..."

"You hopeless fool, straighten yourself.", he says as he dusts his own vest.

William turns back to Rose, "Pardon this fool, Lady Rose, he's quite the idiotic kind."

"What even is his business here in Rußwäll?", she asks, looking down at him.

"Well, I found him in Erinsberg, trying to find a living, Andi thiught if the closed library." He explains.

"You do realize now that I despise fools like that lad?", and before she could add more, Amelia chimes in, asking "Wait, the library is open yet again?", her face brightens a bit, but a hint of redness can still be seen on the cheeks.

William replies, "Ah, yes...", Rose cuts him off, "—Amelia, you are not entering that place."

"And why not?" She asks.

"I do not want you staying around a pathetic fool like him!", she yells at her.

"But sister, what has he done wrong?", she asks, curious and concerned.

"I do not like him.", she then scoffs, looking away.

"But... Dear sister." Pleads Amelia.

"A no is no, Amelia, now come on!", Rose grabs her sister's arm and starts walking off.

From the side, Gerono's mind races, did he just witness an angel next to a devil? That's what he asks himself.

William sighs, "Y'know, she's really just like that. Please refrain from worrying too much.", he adds.

Gerono smiles, knowing he might have found someone he actually likes, another note plays in the ballad.
