He didn't answer me.
"Caspian," I called again, my voice firmer this time, claiming him back.
Not a blink. Not a twitch. Nothing.
He just stood there shaking like the damn sky was splitting open above his head and he could see another universe, see a different reality I was not a part of at that point.
But his eyes were blown wide.Empty-wide.And that scared me more than anything because the last time I saw that look in someone's eyes… the last time…
My thoughts started spiraling. I didn't want to relive that moment from years ago. I thought I had successfully escaped that phase but alas, it revisited me in nightmares. At my worst moments… like right now…
I saw his face instead of Caspian… the same horror in his eyes…
I was on the verge of hyperventilating but I took a step back, breathed in deep, breathed in loud.
"Okay," I muttered under my breath. "We're not doing this out here."
