Chapter 55: Monster
"Lord Councilor!"
A mage from the Magic Council rushed towards Dino Maxim.
Dino quickly raised his foot and stomped down. "BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!"
"WHAAAAAAAA!!"
"UGHHHHH~!!"
The ground beneath Dino's feet suddenly cracked. The powerful shockwave knocked away all the Magic Council members who were close to him, while those farther back fell to the ground from the tremors alone.
Dino smiled casually. "Don't get too close. I'm feeling a bit nervous with so many of you around."
"No need to glare at me like that. I just love seeing you all hate me but being completely unable to do anything about it."
Magic Councilor Belno snarled, "You bastard! Dino! Do you really think you'll get away with this?!"
"Get away with what? Why would I need forgiveness from people who just tried to execute me? Should I have knelt down and begged for mercy instead?"
Dino cocked his fist back toward the prison. "Crack, crack, crack!"
"BOOM BOOM BOOM!!"
The entire holding facility where Dino had been imprisoned shattered into rubble.
"Watch out!"
"No! Get clear!"
"Everyone away from the building!"
Magic Councilor Reggie shouted at Dino, "Dino Maxim! You think you can commit such an outrageous act and walk away?! Even if we can't stop you, Fairy Tail will—"
"Oh?" In an instant, Dino appeared directly in front of Reggie, his foot pinning the councilor to the ground. His tone turned ice-cold. "What was that you just said?"
"No! Someone save Councilor Reggie!" The surrounding mages shouted in panic, their faces pale.
"Back off!" Dino punched the air itself. "Crack!"
"BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!" The atmosphere roared, the earth wailed, and violent tremors shook everything. Everyone screamed as the ground gave way beneath them.
The earth around Dino suddenly split open, forming a massive canyon over twenty meters wide and seemingly bottomless—an insurmountable gap between Dino and the Council's forces.
"M-Monster!!!"
Everyone stared at Dino in absolute terror. This kind of devastating power was beyond human comprehension. What kind of monster had they brought here?
Dino said calmly, "I honestly don't know where you got the confidence to provoke me. Was it your numbers? Your authority as the Magic Council? Your magical power?"
"I'll be straight with you—I've got nothing against old folks in general. I really don't understand what I did to offend you so badly that you'd team up with Phantom Lord to come after me."
"Form a defensive barrier!"
The Council's mages were well-trained despite their fear, and they quickly erected a massive magical shield together.
Dino punched the air again. "Crack!"
"BOOM BOOM BOOM!!"
"AGHHHHH!!"
The magic barrier these mages formed was utterly useless against Dino's震動 power. It shattered into particles of light in less than a second.
The ground shook violently, and soon another massive chasm opened up across the Council headquarters.
"You know the old saying—don't drag innocent people into your fights? I haven't even threatened your families, but you had the nerve to threaten my guild. Who the hell gave you that kind of courage?!"
"CRACK!" Dense fractures appeared in the space itself around his fist, the air unable to withstand the vibrations.
"BOOM BOOM BOOM!!"
In an instant, every remaining building of the Magic Council headquarters crumbled and collapsed.
The councilors all fell silent. Everyone has something they care about—family, friends, or at the very least, their own life.
As high-ranking Magic Council members, they'd forced the disbandment of other guilds many times before. But none of those guilds had contained a monster as terrifying as Dino Maxim.
They began to feel regret—why had they provoked him? Why had they brought him here in the first place?
At the same time, they started to resent Chairman Gran Doma and those three old bastards in the upper seats—Org, Leiji, and Michello. Those three clearly knew what kind of monster Dino was, but they'd given no warning whatsoever before running away.
Too late for regrets now. Their lives were in someone else's hands.
Ultear and Jellal, who'd been hiding to watch the chaos unfold, stood in stunned silence. They'd expected Dino to cause some trouble at the Magic Council, but they never imagined this.
The supposedly powerful Magic Council, even working together, couldn't last more than a few moments against Dino Maxim.
A true monster. How could such a terrifying being exist in this world, wielding such devastating power without any apparent cost or limitation?
With a monster like this, you either kill him in one decisive strike or avoid him entirely. That cunning chairman certainly had the right idea fleeing when he did.
"You know what? Let's just completely destroy the Magic Council. They'll form a new one anyway. And if the next bunch doesn't learn their lesson, I'll just destroy that one too." Dino raised his fist, and a white spherical aura of vibration energy formed around it. "Buzz!"
Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out. "STOP IT RIGHT NOW, YOU BRAT!"
Dino looked up to see a small elderly man appearing nearby.
"That's Fairy Tail's Guild Master, Makarov!"
"And that's Council member Yajima and Intelligence Officer Doranbolt!"
Dino looked at Makarov with genuine surprise. "Old man! What're you doing here? Were you worried about me? It's fine—I don't need any help destroying the Magic Council. I can handle it easily by myself."
Makarov's hand suddenly elongated with Giant magic and smacked Dino hard on the head. "YOU IDIOT! YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR!"
Dino rubbed his head with a sweatdrop, spreading his hands innocently. "What choice did I have? They sentenced me to death! In that case, I figured I should make sure there's no one left to seek revenge later. The best way to avoid retaliation is to eliminate everyone, right? And that Reggie bastard threatened Fairy Tail! Since you're here anyway, Gramps, why don't you give me a hand? Together we can completely wipe out the Magic Council!"
"WHAT?! They did WHAT?!"
