Arc Over: The Labyrinth's Call: Colonel and Shadow have been deployed to the industrial waterfront to confront The Mime (Mai), a deadly agent of the Entropy Collective. The Mime is using a sterile White Aura to weave Conceptual Displacement, threatening to collapse the fundamental laws governing the satellite array and, potentially, the city itself.
The satellite array, usually a forest of shining steel dishes, was shrouded in a nauseating field of distortion. As Colonel and Shadow emerged from the transport, the air itself felt brittle—as if the concept of 'distance' was breaking down, making the nearby metal structures seem too close and too far simultaneously.
Colonel's vibrant Crimson/Viridian Aura reacted violently, pushing back against the distorting field. He had to exert significant control just to keep his own powerful Echoes from being displaced.
"This is worse than I thought," Colonel grunted, drawing a blade of pure, focused Crimson Force. "Her White Aura isn't fighting the concept of Force; it's making the very idea of Force irrelevant."
Standing in the center of the largest dish was The Mime. She was slender, clad in stark white clothing, and completely motionless. Her White Aura expanded outward, serene and terrifyingly uniform.
"The Wardens send the loud one and the scared child," The Mime's voice echoed, devoid of inflection. "Colonel, your Echoes of Aggression are too loud. I will displace the concept of 'Impact' from your fists. Kageyama Shiro, your brilliant logic requires a frame of reference. I will displace the concept of 'Reference' from your mind."
Shadow's mind instantly became a battlefield. The Mime's Weave was a constant psychic hum, a whisper that told him: Nothing you calculate matters. Two plus two does not equal four; it equals an absence.
"She is attacking my Cerulean Aura," Shadow muttered, rubbing his temples. "She's attempting to unravel the foundation of my cognitive process. Colonel, I need five seconds! I need to calculate the Source-Weave's origin point."
"Five seconds is eternity against Mai," Colonel countered, but he didn't hesitate.
With a roar that was more defiance than rage, Colonel charged. He manifested an Echo of Blinding Velocity—a memory of instantaneous speed—and shot toward The Mime. He aimed not to strike, but to disrupt.
CLANG!
Colonel's fist, wrapped in powerful Crimson Aura, connected with The Mime's defensive field. The impact sounded flat, dead. His powerful blow, which should have shattered the steel deck beneath her, merely resulted in a light thud.
The Mime didn't move. Her White Aura had successfully displaced the Concept of Impact. Colonel's force was there, but its effect was gone.
"Inefficient," The Mime droned. "Your Echo of Aggression has been rendered moot, Colonel. I will now displace the concept of 'Cohesion' from your bones."
Colonel gasped, staggering back. His Viridian Aura of Vitality flickered weakly as his bones felt momentarily like dust.
"Shiro! Hurry!" he yelled, focusing his remaining Aura purely on defense.
Shadow was already fighting a conceptual war. The Mime's White Aura was a wall of philosophical nothingness. To break it, he couldn't attack it with force or emotion; he had to attack the idea behind her power.
The Mime's power, Conceptual Displacement, is based on removing variables. If I remove a variable, she simply displaces the next one. I must introduce a variable that she cannot process or displace.
Shadow focused his Void Aura—the color of silence, the Aura of negation. He didn't use the simple nullification he used on the Spectre. He went deeper, drawing upon the inherent nature of the Void to create an anti-equation.
He targeted the very fabric of the Mime's White Aura and began to weave the ultimate counter-concept: the Anti-Reference.
"The displacement of a concept requires a reference point of what that concept was," Shadow spoke, his voice unnervingly calm amid the chaos. "If I displace the concept of 'Conceptual Displacement' itself, her power becomes a logical paradox."
His Void Aura pulsed, drawing a tiny, razor-thin line of Cerulean logic. It was an immensely complex, high-risk weave that taxed his mind to its absolute limits.
Weave Formula: Void Aura × (Displacement Protocol)-1 → Conceptual Paradox
FZZZZZZZZT!
The Void Aura struck the Mime's sterile White Aura. It wasn't an explosion. It was a sound like tearing silk, the audible shriek of a logic gate overloading.
The Mime screamed, an honest, visceral sound of pain. Her White Aura shattered into a million fragmented pieces of empty light. Her eyes, moments before cold and calculating, were now wide with pure confusion.
"My… my concept! Where is my reference?" she stammered.
Colonel didn't wait. Seeing the Mime's defense collapse, he unleashed a massive, uncontrolled wave of Echo of Protective Rage, hitting her before her mind could process a counter-weave.
The Mime was launched across the array, slamming hard into the satellite dish, instantly neutralized.
Colonel stumbled, catching his breath. His Aura was ragged, but intact. He looked at Shadow with an expression bordering on fear.
"You didn't hit her, Shiro," Colonel whispered, awe replacing pain. "You made her power logically impossible. You weaved the Anti-Concept. I didn't even know that was a thing."
Shadow leaned against a console, his body shaking with exhaustion, a trickle of blood running from his eye. "It's mathematically sound. Her ability required definition. The Void provides only negation. I eliminated her premise."
He looked at Colonel, whose Viridian Aura was rapidly regenerating but whose core Shattered Echo had flickered dangerously during the fight.
"You were nearly broken, Colonel," Shadow stated, his exhaustion forgotten in the rush of data. "We need to analyze why the White Aura affected your core Resonance so strongly. Your power is inherently volatile; you can't be exposed to that level of conceptual interference again."
Colonel just nodded, his usual swagger replaced by intense focus. He knew Shadow had just saved his life from a threat that raw power couldn't touch.
The partnership was no longer an arrangement; it was a bond forged in mutual reliance and conceptual warfare.
