Chapter 47: The Situation
"You are…"
Staring at the young man in front of him, Yuu froze for a beat, then quickly came back to himself.
"Mr. Minato?"
Handsome features, blond hair, that warm, approachable presence, and the fact that he was here with Kakashi. Who else could it be but Minato Namikaze?
Minato looked a little surprised. "You know me?"
"I've heard Kakashi mention you a little," Yuu said with a smile, wearing just the right amount of respect. "And recently, I don't think there's anyone here who hasn't heard of you."
After the story of Minato's battle against the A and B brothers spread, his reputation had already reached every corner of the battlefield. Even the most ordinary shinobi in Konoha knew the name Yellow Flash.
From that battle onward, the Yellow Flash truly stepped onto the highest stage, becoming a powerhouse comparable to the White Fang of Konoha and the Sannin.
"I see." Minato's smile did not change.
In some ways, he felt similar to Yuu. Most of the time, both carried a gentle smile and gave off a peaceful, approachable air.
But unlike Yuu, Minato's smile was brighter, like a rising sun, warm toward everyone without distinction.
Yuu, on the other hand, smiled at everyone too, yet truly cared about only a few. His thoughts ran deeper, not as straightforward as the man standing in front of him.
Still, at their core, they seemed like the same type of person, only differing in subtle ways.
Now that they had met, both felt an instinctive sense of goodwill, as if they were old friends seeing each other again.
Kakashi was not in the room at the moment.
Minato seemed to have come for Kakashi, but like Yuu, he had arrived at the wrong time.
With Kakashi absent, the two simply talked.
"What do you think of the current war situation?" Minato asked, looking at Yuu.
"It's about to end," Yuu replied calmly, without hesitation. "It won't be long before this war concludes, and the ninja world returns to peace."
"Oh?" Minato's interest was immediately piqued. "What makes you say that?"
Right now, although the war's intensity was not as brutal as before, the shadow of conflict still hung over every border.
In Sunagakure, the Fourth Kazekage had already been selected, and the village was lurking at the edge of the battlefield, ready to jump in at any moment.
Kumogakure had signed a ceasefire with Konoha, but their strength remained intact.
As for Iwagakure and Kirigakure, both were still fighting Konoha in major engagements.
Given the situation, even if the war ended, it seemed like it should still take a long time.
"The Sand Village won't send troops," Yuu said softly. "Their Kazekage was just chosen. Internal power struggles are inevitable, and after their previous losses, how much strength do they really have left to spend outside their own borders?"
"Kumogakure just signed a ceasefire with Konoha."
"As for Iwagakure…"
Yuu paused, then continued, voice steady.
"The Third Tsuchikage is a very wise man. Since it's obvious he cannot gain much advantage against Konoha, he won't keep wasting time here."
"If I'm not mistaken, it won't be long before an envoy from the Land of Earth comes to negotiate a ceasefire."
"Or maybe negotiations are already happening."
Minato could not help showing surprise.
Because as Yuu said, the envoy sent by Onoki had already arrived in Konoha.
The two sides had secretly signed a ceasefire agreement. It simply had not been announced publicly yet.
"How did you guess that?" Minato asked, looking at Yuu.
A secret ceasefire was confidential.
Minato knew because he had already entered Konoha's core decision making circle and was also an important figure on the front lines.
But Yuu was only a medical ninja. How could he know something like this?
"I just deduced it from details," Yuu said with a small smile. "Recently, the number of wounded being sent from the front lines to the medical squad has dropped sharply."
"Even so," Minato said, shaking his head, "they can tear up the agreement at any time."
"A ceasefire is just paper. It has no binding power by itself."
"At any moment, Kumogakure and Iwagakure could join forces again and restart the war with Konoha."
That was Konoha's greatest concern.
History had proven, again and again, that trust between villages was fragile. Former allies could rip up agreements for profit and turn around to stab you in the back.
Under those conditions, even if Kumogakure and Iwagakure temporarily stopped their offensives, Konoha could not afford to relax.
If this ceasefire was nothing more than a tactic to make Konoha lower its guard before a sudden strike, the situation would become far more dangerous.
So right now, whether it was Minato or the Third Hokage, no one dared to be careless.
They were ready to fight again at any moment.
"Under normal circumstances, that would be true," Yuu said, shaking his head. "But Onoki is not an ordinary man."
"If he were truly planning to backstab Konoha, he wouldn't negotiate a ceasefire in secret. He would publicize the agreement loudly so everyone could see it."
"This secret ceasefire, keeping up hostility on the surface, is actually aimed at someone else."
"You mean…" Minato's eyes sharpened. "Kumogakure?"
"Yes." Yuu nodded. "If I'm not mistaken, the Tsuchikage has already prepared a trap and is waiting for the Raikage to step into it."
"Given his style, it won't be a small trap."
"Once the Raikage falls for it, the Land of Lightning's strength will be heavily damaged, and there will be no room left for reconciliation between Kumogakure and Iwagakure."
Minato fell into thought. "And then Konoha's pressure drops sharply."
At this point, Minato's impression of Yuu had completely changed.
At first, he had only viewed Yuu as an elite medical ninja.
But after this conversation, he saw him in an entirely new light.
This was a genius with sharp strategic judgment, someone who could piece together the entire world situation from a handful of small clues.
In the ninja world, that kind of talent was rare.
After all, most shinobi were skilled at killing and infiltration.
As for everything beyond that, there was not much to say.
It was not that such people did not exist, but they were extremely scarce.
Minato looked at Yuu now as if he had discovered a rare giant panda.
