Chapter 19 - under one roof

The car ride was quiet, the city lights blurring past the windows as Jay sat stiffly beside Keifer. She tried to think of something to say, anything to break the silence, but the cold, unreadable expression on his face kept her tongue tied.

Finally, the car pulled up to the Watson mansion—an architectural masterpiece of glass, steel, and elegance. The sprawling estate looked almost unreal under the evening sky, and Jay couldn't help but feel a mixture of awe and intimidation.

Keifer stepped out first, his posture commanding as always, and opened the door for her. "Come," he said simply, and she followed, her heels clicking softly against the polished marble floors.

They moved through the vast hallways, each room more extravagant than the last. Jay's eyes kept darting around, taking in the grandeur, but she didn't dare speak. Keifer's presence alone was enough to make her heart race.

Finally, they stopped in front of a door. Keifer turned to her, his expression unreadable. "This will be your room," he said quietly.

Jay glanced inside. The room was luxurious but tasteful—soft lighting, a large bed, and a window that overlooked the gardens. It was perfect, but her mind wasn't on the decor.

Keifer stepped back, giving her space, but she could feel the tension radiating from him. His jaw was tight, and his eyes—though calm—burned with a quiet intensity.

He didn't say anything else. Jay felt the weight of his silence pressing down on her. She wanted to speak, to ask questions, to make a joke to lighten the tension, but even that seemed impossible.

Keifer finally broke the silence, but only with a single, low warning: "I'm not talking any further tonight. If I do… I won't be able to control myself."

Jay froze, a shiver running down her spine. She understood exactly what he meant—his usual cold, bossy demeanor was barely containing the storm within him. And as much as her heart pounded, she also felt a flicker of something dangerous and thrilling in that restraint.

She nodded silently, lowering her gaze. Keifer turned and left the room without another word, leaving Jay alone—but not really. The memory of his piercing eyes and the tension in the air lingered, making her pulse race even faster.

For the first time, Jay realized… living under the same roof as Keifer Watson wasn't just going to be challenging—it was going to be irresistibly intense.
