Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

It was almost impossible to get a taxi because of where theur house was situated.

It was in a very private area where only influential people were located.

After trudging along a path for a very long time, she made it to the security entrance.

By then, she was not crying anymore but her eyes were red and swollen and her hair was a bit dishevelled.

They let her out and she walked into the night to try to find a place to try to call a cab again.

It took her about thirtyminutes to get a car and when it arrived, she put her bag in the car boot and entered the car.

Even though she had thought she was fine crying, she felt a sudden urge to nap her eyes out but knew it would be improper. Biting her lip to force herself to calm down while looking down angling her head very low to prevent the driver from seeing the horrible mess she was.

All she could do now, was hope and pray she arrived at her destination as soon as possible. After what felt like an eternity, the car stopped in a residential area and the driver kindly helped her with her bag.

As she walked in dragging her suitcase her mind was filled with memories. She remembered being pushed on the swing of the nearby park when she was little by her grandmother.

Soon enough, she stood in front of a house painted mauve with black embellishments and a black gate. She stepped forward to put in the password at the electronic input part and the gate opened.

The further in she walked, the more memories rushed in her head and the more difficult it was for her to control herself.

All she wanted was a hug from her family to make her feel better — even though she knew deep in her heart that that was just a wish that could never be realised.

This was the home she had vowed never to set foot again yet here she was. This was the only place she could think of coming even though she never had a good relationship with her parents.

After getting married to Zack, she emailed that only necessary interactions happened and never again tried to mend their relationship.

People never understood why Sophie had a terrible relationship with her family but they never knew her family history because of they did, they would understand her.

Sophie herself didn't know the ins and outs of the 'adult matters' until she was about fifteen years old, when she accidentally overhead the whole truth about her family — that her real mother died in a car accident. And the person her father remarried was my mom's best friend.

Things never set well with her after that as she noticed things she ignored in her past like how whenever she spoke about her mother, her stepmother reacted oddly.

It suddenly started to rain cats and dogs and Sophie was forced to rushing to the door that was close by. Standing in the porch, she tried making sure she remained as dry as she could by standing close to the door.

After ringing the bell twice with shaky hands, she stood shivering. Miles Stevens, her fifty year old father opened the door with a frown on his face. Trying to enter the house was impossible because he was blocking her from entering.

Before she could open my mouth to say anything, she felt a sharp sting on my right cheek.

Then another on her left cheek. Her father The slap was so hard she could've sworn she tasted blood in her mouth.

"How dare you come here, slut?"

"Dad-" I was cut off.

"You are no daughter of mine. From this day onwards", he said without any remorse in his eyes. His eyes held no affection for her.

Bamm!!! The door was slammed in my face. With nowhere to go, she was forced to wander the streets. Lost in thoughts, it took her a while to realize that two strange men were following her.

She walked faster and faster to try to see if they were really following her or if she was being paranoid. When they increased their pace as well, she dropped her suitcase and broke into a run. With her heart beating fast, the only thing I could think about was the news reports of girls who were raped and murdered as she prayed for help.

Within a matter of seconds, her arm was grabbed and her mouth was covered before she could scream. Although it was not daytime, she could only make out the brown eyes of one of the men.

As she was trying to figure out who it was, she felt a sharp pain from the back of her head. Before blacking out, she felt that she heard him say, "I'm sorry" in an all too familiar voice and the last thought in her mind was a cry for help.
