Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Baptism of Blood

I hear voices inside the abandoned warehouse.

Laughter.

They sound… happy.

It doesn't matter.

I teleport onto the roof of the warehouse and use magic to prevent the structure from creaking or collapsing under my weight.

I listen to those losers talking.

—Hahahahahaha.

—Boss, the deal is solid. We're going to make a lot of money. Cocaine brings huge profits.

Everyone smiles at the word.

Coke.

I observe the group from above. Then I notice someone familiar. I search through the memories of this body.

The one wearing the biker jacket.

The classic bad boy.

Tall. Handsome. Motorcycle goggles. Black leather gloves. A knife in his hand, chewing gum like he owns the place.

Yeah…

He's the bad boy all the girls at school like.

I keep scanning faces, but nothing else stands out. The original owner of this body never looked for trouble.

He didn't have many friends… and the few he had abandoned him once they got girlfriends.

I'm alone.

No friends.

Why the hell am I thinking about this right now, when I'm about to kill?

Whatever.

Them…

They have to die.

I keep listening.

—Hey, Tairon —one of them laughs—, did you already fuck one of those cheerleader bitches?

Everyone bursts out laughing.

—Yeah —Tairon replies—. A real pro. A few hits here and there and she went into autopilot.

Laughter echoes throughout the warehouse.

I don't care.

Completely irrelevant.

—I was hoping to get Madison —Tairon adds—, the hottest girl in school. And the other pretty ones too… later.

—Why don't you pass them to us?

I sigh.

I don't know who's more pathetic…

Them, or me for expecting anything important from their mouths.

Then something catches my attention.

—I heard that in the neighboring county some pretty girls have gone missing —someone says—. Hey Tairon, you move around a lot… you know anything?

That interests me.

—I've heard rumors —he answers—. Hot girls disappearing. That's all I know.

Disappearances.

Pretty girls.

The clown was right.

This world is dangerous.

Supernatural entities exist… and people vanish without a trace.

I'll have to investigate this later.

—Whatever —another says—. Let's focus. How many kilos?

—Five kilos.

—Damn, Silvio. That's serious money.

More laughter.

They're done talking about anything useful.

No reason to keep listening.

It's time.

Fear.

Terror.

Horror.

While they keep talking about drugs and girls, the warehouse lights begin to flicker.

Silence.

—What the hell is going on? —someone asks—. The generator?

—Go check it.

Two men head toward the generator room.

—Probably that piece of shit again —one says—. Fix it and then we can have some fun.

—Yeah… with some girls —the other laughs.

The generator shuts off.

Silence.

—What…?

A wet sound.

—Ah…

—What was that?

A scream.

—WAAAAAH!

—What happened?

The lights snap back on.

One of them is dead.

Smiling.

Blood covering his face.

—WAAAAAH!

—Why are you idiots screaming? Turn the damn lights on!

—Where's the other guy?

He lifts his head.

He freezes.

No eyes.

Only blood.

—M… my eyes…

A soul-ripping scream.

Tairon feels cold sweat running down his spine. Something inside him screams:

Run.

The lights go out.

Then turn on again.

Tairon looks left.

Someone is standing there.

A clown.

Stained suit.

Knife dripping with blood.

—Who the hell are you? —he shouts—. You seriously think a clown costume is scary?

Everyone stares at me.

They pull out knives.

Then…

Balloons fall from the ceiling.

—What the hell…?

—Where did those balloons come from?

I raise my hand.

Snap.

The balloons explode, releasing thick red smoke, like blood.

—What…?

—My legs!

—I can't feel my arms!

Screams.

I throw the knife.

One head goes flying.

Silence.

Then… terror.

One of them pulls out a gun.

Bang.

Bang.

Bang.

He empties the magazine.

I'm still standing.

I wave hello.

—Ru… run…

They try to escape.

—The hunt begins now.

My voice sounds elegant. Malicious.

One man is split in half.

Another loses all his limbs.

The gunman reloads.

But his arm is gone.

I'm holding it.

He feels no pain.

He can't scream.

I appear in front of him, place both hands on his head…

And squeeze.

His head explodes.

—Is this even possible…? —someone whispers—. Is it real… like that movie…?

Black balloons appear.

They merge.

Swallow bodies whole.

—BOOM!

Human remains cover the floor.

—So… how was the show?

No one can scream.

Only Tairon remains alive.

On his knees.

—P… please… don't kill me… I'll do anything…

—Tell me about the disappearances in the neighboring county.

—I don't know everything! Just that they were pretty girls… popular ones… that's all!

His head falls to the floor.

Snap.

All the blood rises, forming a floating sphere.

I throw it against the wall.

The blood moves…

Forms a smile.

And a message:

HAHAHAHA

THE SHOW IS OVER
