Lisa reached the swamp before the sun itself.
She had logged in earlier than agreed, and when Lohan appeared at the entrance of the headquarters tree, still with the dawn mist clinging to the leaves, she was already waiting, pacing back and forth with her two tails swaying at an impatient rhythm, without needing to say anything to him for him to imagine what was going through that little fox's head.
He only needed to remember her experience bar, stuck at ninety eight percent since the night before, and the way she refused to look back, to understand that she had gone to sleep thinking about it, if she had even slept at all.
"Did you sleep?" he asked, as he settled onto her back.
"I did," she replied, too quickly. "Kind of. Let's go."
"Let's go."
The trip to the swamp was short, and when they arrived, the mist still covered the mud like a low sheet, hiding the roots and turning the twisted trees into gray silhouettes.
