Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Five Years of Life

"Wake up… wake up. Hello—can you hear me?"

Lin Feng dimly heard someone calling his name over and over.

Didn't I die? The thought was fuzzy and unreal as he tried to force his eyes open.

Under the shadow of a bridge, the horse girl lying there slowly opened her eyes. She stared up at the sun—and fell into bewildered silence.

"Did someone dig me out of my grave?"

"In a sense… yes."

A low, heavy voice sounded beside his ear—like the feeling of working on a machine and suddenly realizing a killer is staring straight at you. Lin Feng jolted so hard he practically launched himself upright. His ears snapped back instinctively.

"Finally. Got you awake."

"Then… are you here to hand me some kind of superpower wristband?" Lin Feng tried to joke, hoping sarcasm would calm his nerves.

"No. But congratulations—you've been successfully resurrected. And in such a wonderful world, too. Also, I suggest you look at yourself in the river. I built you a body based on your ideal type."

"…?"

He lowered his head and looked into the water. Then—he couldn't help blurting out in shock.

"Holy—so it's a transmigration and a transformation?! White hair, red eyes… and why do I have ears? A horse girl—this is Uma Musume?!"

"Correct. That's why I said it's a wonderful world."

Lin Feng twisted this way and that, using the river as a mirror, checking his new body from every angle. He even brushed at his skirt, flicking off the blades of grass stuck to the fabric.

"So… may I ask what you brought me here for?"

He felt deeply uneasy. Being revived and dropped into the world of horse girls—this wasn't going to be something insane like "steal the Three Goddesses' divine power," right?

Me, fighting the Three Goddesses? For real?

The mysterious figure chuckled at the faint tremor in Lin Feng's voice.

"Now you're using honorifics. Relax. What could I possibly want you to do? I was bored. Consider it an observation experiment. Oh, and you can call me X."

"An unknown existence… X?"

Lin Feng nearly lost control of his expression. His mouth opened, ready to unleash a flood of complaints—then he remembered who had revived him and snapped it shut. His ears twitched like a malfunctioning antenna, practically vibrating with suppressed snark.

Watching that face—and those ears spinning like helicopter blades—X felt a surge of satisfaction.

Bringing him back was already paying dividends. The entertainment value looked promising.

"But I should warn you," X said, voice turning faintly serious. "You have—at most—five years to live."

The words hit with enough weight to make it clear: this wasn't a joke.

"What you do with those five years, I won't interfere. Live quietly. Go on adventures. Race. Whatever you choose—it's yours to decide."

Lin Feng's ears stopped twitching. He lowered his head, rubbing his chin with thumb and forefinger, thinking hard.

"Let me ask something first," he said. "This body… is it good? By horse girl standards."

"Top-tier," X replied instantly, without even a flicker of hesitation. "The highest class."

After all, X had modeled it after the very best.

"Then—!"

Lin Feng clenched one fist and slapped it into his other palm, like he was rallying himself before battle.

"I'm going to become a top-class horse girl. If I've been given a second life, then of course I'm going to chase something big—something that will be remembered."

He lifted his face. Those ruby-like eyes glittered as if stars were trapped inside them. He broke into a huge grin, teeth bright against the sunlight.

"If I can only live five years in reality… then I'll live forever in history."

"Hahahaha!" X burst out laughing. "I thought your first question would be why you only get five years."

"It's five years I didn't have to begin with. What is there to question?" Lin Feng said, shaking his head. His white ears and hair swayed together. "Honestly, I'm grateful you brought me back at all."

"But let me bring you back to reality," X said, still amused. "If you want to be top-class, have you thought about your identity? And how exactly does someone who just turned into a horse girl—someone with zero racing technique—plan to beat girls who've trained since childhood?"

"Uh…"

Lin Feng's ears drooped forward, suddenly limp. The logic hit like a brick: having the best body with no technique was like stuffing a supercar engine into a three-wheeled scooter. One wrong move, and you wouldn't just lose—you'd crash and burn.

"And there's training time," X continued. "A coach. The money to register, to buy gear. Language barriers. And so on."

With every problem listed, Lin Feng's smile sank a little more—until her mouth was as flat as the calm river surface. Her face twisted into pure frustration.

X looked at her ears flopped down and that pitiful expression—and laughed again.

Yeah. Reviving this one was absolutely worth it.

"Don't worry," X said. "I won't interfere with your choice. But once you decide, I can give you some support."

Then, with shameless honesty:

"After all, you're my entertainment."

Lin Feng ignored the last sentence completely. She clasped her hands under her chin, eyes sparkling, and launched into enthusiastic praise in an adoring, fangirl tone.

"Please… act normal," X cut in. "Then continue."

Like a stage actor switching masks, Lin Feng instantly straightened up, face turning solemn—serious as if she were about to march into war.

"Fine. Let's start with the identity problem," X sighed. "I already solved that for you. All you need to do is choose a horse girl name."

"In an instant—no… I'll be Eternal Meteor."

Lin Feng—no, Eternal Meteor—answered without hesitation.

"It's my goal, and it's my vow."

"I will become a shooting star on the track—one that hangs forever in history."
