Chapter 3 - 3. Diancite

Pokémon Center.

After Wayne used the Random Pokémon Item Gacha Ticket, a chessboard-like grid suddenly appeared before his eyes.

A glowing white dot spun around the grid before finally landing on a round, transparent stone with swirling red and yellow colors at its center.

"Ding! Congratulations, Host! You've drawn a Diancite with an extremely low probability!"

?

Wayne slowly formed a mental question mark.

Where am I supposed to find a Diancie for this thing?

A Diancite also materialized in the System's inventory storage.

"Diancite: A mysterious Mega Stone that allows Diancie to Mega Evolve into Mega Diancie when held during battle."

Wayne pulled the Mega Stone out of his inventory, and it appeared in his palm. He examined it carefully.

Wayne was fairly familiar with Diancie.

It was a Mythical Pokémon from the Kalos region—a mutated Carbink that radiated a beautiful pink glow.

There was only one Diancie born within any group of Carbink, but Diancie as a species wasn't necessarily unique to the world.

The only one he knew of for certain was the Diancie from the underground Diamond Domain in Kalos, but he reasonably assumed there should be others in different locations around the world.

As long as he could locate a community of Carbink somewhere, there should be a chance of finding a Diancie among them.

The Identification Eye was only at the Beginner level right now. With a higher-level Identification Eye, perhaps he could even identify a Carbink that was currently undergoing mutation?

Finding a Diancie had just become one of Wayne's long-term goals.

The mission status had already changed to 'In Progress.'

However, he couldn't do anything about any of his quests at the moment.

The Breeding House renovations would take considerable time, he certainly didn't have a girlfriend, and helping Cynthia's younger sister achieve her dream seemed even more distant.

Cynthia, at twenty-two years old, had dominated the Sinnoh League Championship for many years and was also recognized as an exceptionally knowledgeable expert on mythology.

As Cynthia's younger sister, although she held grand dreams of surpassing her sister, the difficulty of actually achieving that was undeniably enormous.

He'd set those missions aside for now.

Wayne's immediate priority was to examine his new abilities and figure out exactly how to gain skill experience.

Wayne clenched his fists, feeling the powerful energy surging through his body. His physical fitness had definitely improved dramatically.

Super Aura Human physique—isn't this going to be incredible?

Get Bruno on the phone!

Ahem, just kidding.

Wayne realistically couldn't beat Elite Four Bruno right now.

But his enhanced physique was no joke. His fighting ability would definitely rank at Champion level, possibly even beyond that in some aspects.

The Identification Eye compensated perfectly for Wayne's lack of an actual Pokédex.

Wayne used the Identification Eye to examine Lucario.

Name: Lucario

Gender: Male

Type: Fighting/Steel

Ability: Inner Focus (Prevents flinching from opponents' attacks)

Moves: Swords Dance, Calm Mind, Aura Sphere, Meteor Mash, Bone Rush, Flash Cannon, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Bullet Punch, Force Palm, Protect, Quick Guard...

Strength Rating: Gym Leader (Beginner)

Evaluation: Having mastered two of the legendary 'Elemental Punches,' this Lucario already displays the bearing of an Elite-level Pokémon!

Reality was different from the games—Pokémon weren't limited to just four move slots.

His grandfather was a top-tier Breeder, and Wayne had specifically had Lucario learn Ice Punch and Thunder Punch, two of the three famous Elemental Punches.

"Lucario."

Noticing Wayne's gaze upon it, Lucario rubbed its stomach meaningfully.

Wayne nodded slightly. "Just wait a moment. I'll prepare it right away."

Wayne set everything else aside and began preparing food for Lucario and his other Pokémon.

Wayne always personally made his Pokémon's food. His grandfather had taught him from a young age to treat his Pokémon with the utmost care.

His grandfather's words still echoed clearly in his memory:

"An excellent Breeder must prepare food specifically tailored to each Pokémon's training goals, developmental stage, physical condition, and individual taste preferences.

To properly cultivate strong Pokémon... the food they consume is especially crucial. You must never cut corners or compromise on quality."

After Wayne began raising Lucario and Arcanine, he'd gained an even deeper understanding of those words.

Pokémon breeding was primarily about financial investment.

To raise an Elite-level Pokémon required both natural talent and substantial monetary resources—both were absolutely indispensable.

Wayne had only raised Lucario and Arcanine so far, and the expenses had already been staggering.

Now with the System's assistance, it might actually help Wayne raise Pokémon more efficiently.

"Are you going with spicy again today?"

Lucario's expression turned serious. "Lucario."

Extra spicy, please!

Wayne's Lucario had rather peculiar taste preferences—it exclusively enjoyed spicy food, and the spicier, the better.

As someone well-versed in Berries, Wayne possessed considerable knowledge about different Berry varieties.

Highly spicy Berries like Tamato Berry, Liechi Berry, and Salac Berry were all extremely rare varieties, virtually impossible to purchase on the open market.

Wayne settled for using Leppa Berries and Cheri Berries instead.

He placed both Berries into a small household Berry Blender, and the rotating blade mechanism in the center began spinning rapidly...

Approximately fifteen minutes later, the Berry Blender's output slot continuously dispensed translucent red cubes. Wayne then ground some additional Berry powder and sprinkled it on top as seasoning, completing the preparation process.

The Identification Eye allowed Wayne to view the Pokéblock's detailed information.

"Pokéblock (Spicy): A moderately flavorful Pokéblock crafted from a mixture of Leppa Berry and Cheri Berry."

Making food for Lucario was something Wayne had mastered through extensive practice—he could consistently produce this quality level.

He also prepared appropriate meals for Arcanine and Metang.

Since he didn't know Metang's taste preferences yet, Wayne made its Pokéblocks according to mainstream flavor profiles.

If Metang didn't like them, he could always grind different Berries into powder or use alternative seasonings.

"Alright, everyone dig in."

Thank you! Time to eat!

Lucario was clearly eager, but it still conscientiously tied a napkin around its neck, sat properly at the dining table, and elegantly consumed its Pokéblock with a spoon.

Lucario's personal motto in life was to maintain elegance at all times.

As Lucario took its first bite, the System's notification suddenly chimed.

"Ding! Gained 7 points of Pokéblock proficiency."

Wayne observed Lucario carefully, watching its precise movements.

Noticing Wayne's attention, Lucario looked up between bites. It's delicious!

Every time Lucario took another bite, the System notification would sound again.

"Ding! Gained 9 points of Pokéblock proficiency."

"Ding! Gained 8 points of Pokéblock proficiency."

After Lucario finished its entire meal, the Pokéblock Crafting skill displayed in his skill panel had changed.

Pokéblock (Intermediate): (2,598 / 10,000)

Wayne had reached an important conclusion.

Whenever a Pokémon consumed the Pokéblocks he crafted, his Pokéblock-making skill gained proficiency—apparently with every single bite.

The only issue was that hearing a notification sound for every individual bite was slightly overwhelming.

"Ding! Would you like to switch to cumulative proficiency notifications?"

That's surprisingly user-friendly...

After preparing lunch for Lucario and his other Pokémon, Wayne borrowed the Pokémon Center's kitchen facilities.

As Wayne began cutting vegetables, the notification sound chimed in his mind once more.

"Ding! Gained 1 point of Cooking proficiency."

If this were displayed like a video game interface, Wayne's head would definitely be constantly showing '+1' indicators floating upward.

"Ding! Gained 1 point of Cooking proficiency."

If there had been such a mechanism when studying for exams, that would have been incredible—completing one practice problem would give +1 experience, and he could have easily gotten into a top-tier university.

Wayne couldn't help entertaining such an amusing thought.

"A portion of vegetable and egg noodles with excessive salt content."

That's slander! I just happen to prefer salty food!

Wayne's entire trip to Twinleaf Town had been purely for capturing the Silver Metang.

After retrieving his fully healed Pokémon from Nurse Joy, Wayne boarded the train heading home.
