Chapter 6: Spiritual Energy Potions
Su Yuan and Zhang Xu stared wide-eyed at the scene before them, disbelief written all over their faces.
Su Yuan exclaimed, "A B-Beast Transformation Ability! And it's a Beast Transformation Ability with elemental attributes! Hahahaha! Excellent! A dragon has finally emerged from the Su family!"
Zhang Xu added in shock, "Heavens! Just feeling the temperature of those flames, they're definitely not weak. Xiao Ke is only at Tier 1, Stage 1. Just imagine what it'll be like when his Realm is higher in the future!"
Both Su Yuan and Zhang Xu possessed only ordinary Mortal Grade Supernatural Abilities. Su Yuan's was fire-type, but in practice, he was little more than a high-end lighter, though his talent did carry a slight evil-expelling property.
Zhang Xu's ability was speed-type, increasing her own speed by 5%.
They were both in their 40s and had only reached Tier 1, Stage 3. With one talent and one skill, they were considered merely "decent" among the general public, at least stronger than ordinary people with no Realm at all, such as the human trafficker from before.
Now that they saw their son awaken such a powerful Supernatural Ability, it was only natural that they were overwhelmed with excitement.
Once that excitement settled, Su Yuan's gaze hardened with resolve.
"Wife, how much do we have in savings?"
"We haven't had many expenses over the years. We've saved about 500,000."
"Is that enough to buy Spiritual Energy Potions?"
"One potion costs around 50,000, so it's more than enough."
"Good!" Su Yuan said firmly. "Get the bankbook. We're buying potions."
"I'll go get it right away."
Su Ke transformed back, and when he heard their conversation, he hurriedly spoke up.
"Wait! Mom, Dad, what are you doing?"
Su Yuan replied matter-of-factly, "Buying you potions, of course. You've awakened such a powerful Supernatural Ability, so the resources have to keep up."
"But that's too expensive!" Su Ke protested. "50,000 for one potion! Mom's electric scooter has been breaking down for years, and she won't even replace it, repairing it over and over again."
"That's different," Zhang Xu said seriously. "An electric scooter is just a tool. It doesn't matter if we have it or not. Without it, we just walk more. But you are a genius who has awakened a powerful Supernatural Ability. Since ancient times, which powerhouse didn't rise on both talent and resources?"
She continued, "Your talent is outstanding, but without sufficient resources, it'll be hard to keep up with your peers. If you were held back simply because our family couldn't support you, that would be a tremendous loss."
"But—"
"That's enough," Su Yuan interrupted. "It's settled. Tomorrow, I'll take you to the Spirit Medicine shop. What your mother said is right. If you really feel bad about it, then cultivate properly."
"Get into a good university in the future and make a name for yourself in Yan City. Give your father something to be proud of. More importantly, in this era, our family will only truly be safe if you become stronger."
Hearing this, Su Ke stopped arguing and accepted their decision.
To be honest, seeing how much his parents were willing to give for him deeply moved him.
Although their family wasn't poor, they weren't wealthy either. Buying 10 Spiritual Energy Potions at once was a considerable financial burden.
"Don't look at us like that," Su Yuan said with a chuckle. "500,000 is just our savings. Payday isn't far off, so it won't affect our daily life. Besides, your old man is the manager of the Spirit Medicine shop. I get a discount. We might not even need the full amount."
What Su Yuan said was true. After Su Ke saved Lin Ning, the Lin Family arranged high-paying, low-stress jobs for both of them. Su Yuan was assigned to procurement at the Spirit Medicine shop.
Over the years, he was promoted step by step to manager. While the Lin Family's support mattered, his own effort was just as important.
The next morning, after a good night's rest, the family headed to the Spirit Medicine shop.
Seeing the faint dark circles under his parents' eyes, Su Ke guessed they had spent half the night calling relatives to boast.
As soon as they entered, a pretty young woman at the front desk greeted them.
"Hello, Manager. Are you bringing your wife and son in today?"
Su Yuan smiled. "Xiao Qing, my son awakened his Supernatural Ability yesterday. I'm here to buy him some Spiritual Energy Potions."
"It seems the little brother awakened a very good Supernatural Ability."
"Hahaha! Of course," Su Yuan laughed. "It's quite powerful. Let's skip the small talk for now. I need to get him home to cultivate as soon as we're done."
He led them into the sales area and had the staff bring out 10 Elementary Spiritual Energy Potions, packing them neatly.
"Manager, 10 Elementary Spiritual Energy Potions come to 500,000. With the internal employee discount, that's 20% off, for a total of 400,000."
"Swipe the card."
"Understood."
After paying, Su Yuan handed the box to Su Ke.
"I'll head straight to work now. You two go home."
Su Ke carefully accepted the box, afraid to damage it.
After walking for a short while, Zhang Xu spoke up.
"I need to go to work as well. Head back on your own. Cultivate properly when you get home. Don't slack off."
"I won't!" Su Ke replied firmly.
He hurried home, excitement bubbling in his chest. Sitting on his bed, he eagerly opened the box.
Inside were 10 crystal-clear test tubes.
He gently picked one up and held it against the sunlight.
Under the light, the potion emitted a soft, beautiful glow. It looked almost mesmerizing.
"I almost don't want to drink it."
Spiritual Energy Potions were similar in effect to crystal cores, but far cheaper.
They were divided into 3 levels: Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced.
Elementary and Intermediate potions were made from precious medicinal herbs, while Advanced potions required crystal cores as materials and were therefore also known as diluted crystal cores.
Su Ke didn't know the exact process, only that a single F-rank crystal core could produce about 10 such potions.
Each test tube contained 100 ml. Su Ke opened one and drank it in a single gulp.
In an instant, a massive surge of spiritual qi erupted within his body.
He immediately circulated his cultivation technique to absorb it.
Once consumed, the spiritual qi from a potion would not remain indefinitely and would gradually dissipate. If it wasn't refined in time, it would be wasted.
After some time, Su Ke opened his eyes and exhaled a mouthful of turbid air.
"Whew… I refined about 50%."
Normally, the stronger the talent, the faster the absorption and refinement speed. Under the same conditions, a Mortal Grade talent could refine at most 10%.
Refining 50% meant his talent was roughly at the Good Grade level.
"Then why wasn't my talent detected during the initial awakening?"
Su Ke looked at the little broken watch on his wrist. He guessed that during the awakening, the watch truly hadn't shown any effect, making his talent undetectable.
However, after breaking through to Tier 1, Stage 1, it had begun to reveal its potential, allowing his talent to finally manifest.
"So as my Realm increases and more alien heroes appear, my talent will keep getting stronger," Su Ke murmured. "That's insane."
His heart surged with excitement. If that was true, his cultivation speed would only become faster and faster in the future.
He glanced at the remaining potions. Although he wanted to drink another one immediately, the instructions clearly stated that there must be a 3-hour interval between doses, or it would harm the body.
Not daring to take the risk, Su Ke obediently began absorbing the surrounding spiritual qi to continue cultivating.
