The mind buzzes —
it pounds with blood
You can't think
of anything else
but it.
You toss and turn —
anticipation waiting,
Tirelessly
working for it.
You chase a trophy —
maybe a purpose
that was never yours.
And the moment
you're handed it,
you wake —
Wake from a beautiful dream
you know
you could never achieve.
It slowly kills you,
knowing this.
Yet you feign ignorance
of the dreams
you awoke from.
Then, in reality,
you sweat
And bleed
but achieve nothing
And live for nothing —
Too scared to live,
But too scared to die.
This is okay for you —
You're just fine
Because you know
after a hard day
You go home
and rest for a while
and finally
when you're fast asleep.
Then you wake
in a land
Full of dreams.
