Chapter 4: A Small Change
The garden felt different that afternoon. Lily couldn't explain why, but something had shifted. The air seemed warmer, and the silence no longer felt empty.
She walked slowly along the narrow path, noticing things she had ignored before—the way the leaves moved with the wind, the soft light resting on the flowers.
Lily stopped near the old tree and sat down. She didn't expect the little bird to come. Still, a part of her hoped.
Moments later, a gentle sound reached her ears.
The bird appeared, landing quietly on a branch above her. It stayed there longer this time, watching her without fear.
Lily smiled, her heart feeling strangely full.
She realized something then—the garden wasn't changing on its own.
She was changing too.
For the first time in a long while, Lily felt calm without trying.
And somewhere above her, the little bird spread its wings, as if agreeing that small moments could mean everything.
