Chapter 3 - Chapter Two

"Have you ever heard of the word necromancy?" Kenshiro asked as kaito flinched a bit from hearing the

word, but he replied to his father nonetheless.

"Yes, I've read about it in the books."

Kenshiro nodded once again before he continued. "Good, now what do you know about it?" He asked as kaito thought a bit before replying to him.

"It's a forbidden magical technique that allows the user the ability to reawaken dead creatures." Kaito finished as Kenshiro smiled a bit.

"Good, now why is this technique forbidden?" He asked as kaito replied.

"Because it was used by a monster known as the Lich and it was also used by Hades". Kaito finished as he tried his best to whisper Hades name.

"Hm, correct once again". Kenshiro was a bit shocked that kaito knew this but he tried his best not to show his emotions and before he could talk, he was cut off by kaito.

"Father, what is the reason for all this?. I thought you called me here to scold me for losing my sparring match against Ryoji?" Kaito asked as Kenshiro raised a brow at this.

"Scold you?" He asked and kaito nodded, as he continued.

"No kaito, that is not why I called you here." Kenshiro revealed as it was now time for kaito to be confused.

"Then why father?" Kaito asked in a curious tone as Kenshiro replied to him.

"The reason I called you here was to tell you a tale." Kenshiro said as kaito was once again confused as he asked Kenshiro the most obvious question.

"A tale?" Kenshiro nodded as he continued talking.

"Long ago, approximately a thousand years ago, there lived a clan that had fought incredibly against the inhabitants of the monster realm—"

He paused to check whether kaito was listening or not and he continued once he saw kaito was listening.

"The leader of this clan was born with a very unique skill…and that was the ability to absorb the skills of any monster he devours." Kaito's eyes widened as Kenshiro nodded.

"The man fought against the Lich and defeated it and devoured it and that gave him the necromancy ability and he became the world's first necromancer that was not a monster. He had used his powers to bring back the dead monsters and they all fought against hades but sadly during the war he was killed by a traitor." Kenshiro paused as he allowed Kaito to ask his question.

"A traitor?" Kaito asked as Kenshiro nodded.

"Yes, sadly we couldn't figure out who he was, anyways, back to the story." Kaito nodded as Kenshiro continued.

"The name of that clan was the Kuroyami Clan and the leader of that clan is none other than one of your ancestors. Raizen Kuroyami." Kenshiro finished as Kaito's eyes widened and his jaw dropped.

"What?!" He shouted as Kenshiro winced a little.

"Yes, I know it's quite hard to believe that the founder of our clan was a necromancer." Kenshiro said as kaito began to think for a while before he replied.

"So does that mean, necromancy has been passed down in our family?. From generation to generation?" Kaito asked the question that was on his mind as Kenshiro nodded.

"Indeed…but, no other kuroyami has managed to awaken it and we eventually forgot about it." Kenshiro said in a sad time as he lowered his head.

"Not even you father?" Kaito asked as Kenshiro could only shake his head as kaito continued.

"So then, why are you telling me all this father?" Kaito asked as Kenshiro looked at him with a serious expression.

"Because kaito, I want you to be the heir to this family tradition." Kenshiro revealed as kaito was taken aback and his eyes widened in shock.

"Y-you want me to become a necromancer?" He asked, still unsure as to whether this was a dream or not.

"That is well, if you are the chosen one." Kenshiro said as kaito remained silent as he thought more about this.

"Tell me son…do you accept?" Kenshiro asked as kaito looked down and thought more before he clenched his fists and looked up at his father with determination.

"I do father." Kaito said as Kenshiro smiled a bit and nodded at his son.

"That's my boy." Kenshiro stood up and walked to one corner of the room and placed his hand on the wall as he infused mana and as the mana traveled through the wall.

A part of the wall suddenly slid open and inside it was a box and Kenshiro grabbed the box and walked back to his table and placed the box.

Then he opened it and it revealed to be a black key with a purple gem inside and a chain to hand around the neck. Kaito could only stare at it in shock and disbelief as his father began to speak.

"This is raizens necklace, the requiem crest." Kenshiro finished as kaito stared at it in wonder.

"What does it do?" He asked as Kenshiro chuckled a bit then replied.

"I don't know but apparently this is what will give you the necromancy powers." Kenshiro answered Kaito's question as he took out the necklace from the box and approached kaito.

"Kaito Kuroyami, do you accept this forbidden tradition that has been passed down in our family from generation to generation?" Kenshiro asked as kaito immediately went on one knee and bowed his head towards Kenshiro.

"I do, Lord Kuroyami." Kaito replied as Kenshiro smiled then continued.

"Then with the power invested in me as the head of the Kuroyami clan and the Viscount of the Arcadia village, I hereby pronounce you. Kaito the necromancer!"

He placed the necklace around Kaitos' neck as the purple gem released a faint flow that went unnoticed by both Kaito and Kenshiro.

"Uhm father…was something meant to happen?" Kaito asked as Kenshiro could only sigh and rub his temple.

"Just like I thought, nothing happened." Kenshiro said, devastated as he went back to sit down and Kaito could only look at him displeased.

"Am I not worthy, father?" Kaito asked, a bit pained as Kenshiro sighed once more and shook his head.

"I don't know son…I don't know." Kenshiro answered him calmly as he turned his chair around to look out the window.

Meanwhile, the necklace still glowed purple but this time it flickered then stopped.
