Julien looked up just in time to see a massive block of concrete flying straight at his head.
The monster had ripped it right out of the building.
Julien did not panic.
He just relied on his new spider instincts.
He jumped backwards off the edge of the roof and shot thick ropes of white web from his wrists.
The sticky threads caught the heavy block mid-air as the sudden weight pulled hard on his shoulders, but Julien spun his body and used his falling momentum to throw the chunk of building right back.
It hit the beast right in the face.
But the monster barely blinked.
It just shook its heavy head and kept coming.
So Julien decided to retreat.
He dropped all the way down the glass wall and hit the broken street.
He scrambled over the ruined roads to where Chris and Alice were hiding behind a flipped car.
Julien was panting hard.
His legs clicked against the road as he tried to catch his breath.
"This is really bad," Chris said.
His voice was rough and weak.
