"Lila!!" My mom's voice echoed from the living room.
I groaned, quickly shoving my drawings under the bed. 'What now?' Before I could even get up, the door burst opened.
"Lila!"
"Mom! Geez!. No knocking?"
She looked at me as if suspecting something.
"Well, I've been screaming your name for the past five minutes. Didn't you hear me call you?" She asked still looking around, I shrugged sitting on my bed.
"You're here now! What was so urgent."
"Lila! Talk to your mother with respect!"
I sighed as she sat next to me.
Great, this was going to be one of those talks.
"Look, I know you and I don't really get along well..and I don't blame you. But you should have grown out of it by now"
Hahaha, is this woman serious right now? Growing out of abandonment and neglect?
"By growing out of it, you mean what exactly? Like if dad hadn't died you would have magically decided to take me imstead of abandoning me?"
"Lila, stop! Look, nobody's perfect, okay?"
At least they were alot better than you, I thought bitterly but didn't dare say it out.
"I came to tell you to start packing your things..."
"Are we moving?" I cut in quickly.
"No, not exactly" she said quickly hesitating before proceeding "Okay... I'm getting married"
I shifted away from her immediately.
"Married?" I repeated, my voice rising.
"At this age?"
She rolled her eyes.
"Excuse you young lady, I'm still 39! I'm not old"
"You'll be 40 soon, what difference does it make?"
She sighed standing up with her hands on her waist.
"You'll be meeting your step father tomorrow and your soon to be brother, so get yourself together and make a good impression!"
"But..." She didn't wait for me to finish, she walked out and slammed the door.
