"So you're both waiting," Hana murmured, the observation gentle but cutting. "You, waiting for him to suddenly wake up and see you. Him, waiting for some porno script he saw online to magically play out by itself."
Yuna managed a miserable laugh, the sound wet with tears. "When you say it like that, it sounds so stupid."
"It sounds human," Hana corrected immediately, her hand reaching out before she could stop herself to touch Yuna's shoulder. "Most people just act from fear. Fear of being rejected. Fear of being left behind. Fear of being found… wanting."
Her voice cracked on that last word, betraying the depth of her own terror.
Yuna looked at her sharply, those innocent eyes suddenly seeing past the maternal facade to the scared, desperate woman underneath.
"Auntie…" she said quietly, hesitantly. "Are you… are you happy? With your boyfriend?"
