Chapter 10 - Eviction

"How is his condition, Doctor?"

"From your description and his physical state, this isn't life-threatening," Kaisar answered calmly.

"Really? Can he recover from his trauma?"

Kaisar fell silent for a moment. "What's dangerous is the cause. A reaction like that doesn't come from ordinary fear. It usually happens in a child who has stored stress or fear for a long time, then it gets triggered by a certain memory."

Amara's fingers slowly clenched.

Kaisar continued, "He didn't truly faint because of illness. His body shut down the response as a way to protect itself from mental pressure that was too overwhelming."

The room fell silent for a few seconds.

"Right now his condition is stable. We've calmed his breathing and given him fluids. But for the time being, he needs supervision."

"Supervision… you mean hospitalization?"

"We need observation." Kaisar looked at Amara seriously. "I'm worried a similar attack could appear again when he feels threatened. Your child shows signs of hypervigilance — his body is constantly on alert as if waiting for something bad to happen."

Amara stayed silent.

"The most important thing, don't force him to remember. If he's triggered again too soon, the reaction could be worse than before."

The doctor's gaze shifted to Vero.

"He isn't weak, Amara. In fact, he's strong for being able to hold it in. Maybe… he was waiting for someone, or the right time to finally feel safe."

Amara fell completely silent. Thankfully she brought Vero sooner. Otherwise, who knows what those two people might have done.

Vero was extremely afraid whenever Richard and Charlie were mentioned.

"Could this be… the son you talked about seven years ago?" Kaisar asked. He had not left the room yet.

Amara turned toward him and nodded. Apparently, this man had been transferred and now became the doctor handling Vero.

"He must have endured because he was waiting for you."

"He doesn't recognize me at all. He hasn't even wanted to call me Momy." Amara hugged herself, restraining the anger slowly spreading through her veins.

"He will recognize his mother…"

Amara's gaze returned to Vero for several seconds before shifting back to Kaisar.

"I actually need help, but… it might be troublesome," Amara said. "Can I trust you, Doctor Diamond? I'll pay whatever you ask."

"Doesn't sound like a simple request, hm?"

Amara paused. She knew Kaisar somewhat, since they had met several times when he worked as a prison doctor.

Even so, she tried to believe he had nothing to do with Charlie or Richard, who could have paid him for certain tasks.

"I want you to become Vero's personal doctor," Amara said seriously. "My situation is complicated after leaving prison. I want Vero's treatment kept confidential. If there's any way he can recover… do whatever it takes. Don't let him stay hurt for too long."

Kaisar gave a faint smile. "You trust me with this task?"

"I'll pay any amount you ask."

"This isn't about money."

Their gazes met. Amara still hadn't said anything, clearly hesitant to ask this of him.

"I know… you've become more cautious after prison, Amara. You have the right to suspect me, and also the right to trust me. But since you're entrusting Vero to me, as a doctor… I will heal him."

Amara remained silent.

"Do you want revenge on the people who made your son like this?" Kaisar asked.

Hearing that, Amara reacted. Her shoulders straightened slightly with controlled tension.

"Do it… Vero's health is my responsibility."

"Why do you want to help me? You're not Charlie or Richard's spy, are you?" Amara asked.

Kaisar chuckled softly. "I'm a doctor, Amara."

That was his only answer, making Amara think hard about his true intentions. Was he sincere about healing Vero? Or did he have another motive?

"I hope I can hold you to your words, Doctor Diamond. Otherwise… I could destroy you."

Kaisar didn't look offended. "Alright… are we partners now?"

He extended his hand as a sign of agreement, but Amara didn't return it and only stared indifferently, as if the handshake meant nothing.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into the next month. Vero's health began being monitored by Kaisar, who understood far better as an experienced doctor.

[Ma'am, this is the phone number of Mr. Charlie's personal driver. He is now on our side and will obey your orders.]

A message from Megan arrived, forming a smile on Amara's lips. It had taken time to accomplish this, since Charlie was an extremely cautious man.

[Are you sure he's on my side?] Amara replied.

[Yes, Ma'am. As precaution, we've stationed people to monitor him.]

[Keep pressuring him to give me useful information.] Amara tightened her grip on her phone. One step had succeeded. Only the next step remained to disturb Charlie.

Meanwhile, Amara never stopped moving to slowly destroy Richard. Starting with a silent report about Richard's actions in the company while Amara was imprisoned.

With the help of Adrian Cole — her lawyer — Amara could move with legal certainty.

"I have carried out your order, Ma'am. Please take a look."

"All his personal assets will be seized? Compensation for company losses?" Amara looked at the document describing her lawsuit against Richard, and she was satisfied.

"Yes, Ma'am. This is the most perfect lawsuit for now."

"He won't be able to pay all of this, right?" Amara asked.

Adrian nodded slowly.

If I destroy Richard first, will that old man step down from his throne? Amara crushed the paper in her hand. She couldn't wait to see Richard arrive.

Destroying Richard and Charlie slowly felt far more satisfying. Just like what they did — there was no forgiveness for all of it.

"Amara… are you home?" Finally Richard came, and he was surprised to see Amara inside the house.

Richard thought Amara had changed her mind about their divorce. Or changed her mind about removing him from the company.

"Is this your suitcase? I'll put it in the bedroom and arrange your clothes!" Richard saw several large suitcases beside the sofa where Amara sat.

"You're going the wrong way, Richard. Those suitcases should be taken outside and removed from this house," Amara said, stopping him from dragging one.

"What do you mean?"

"They're yours."

Richard's face tightened as Amara said it seriously. He recognized some of his belongings.

"You're kicking me out? This is my house, Amara… I mean… our house, but you have no right over it because my money also built it!" Richard argued.

"I know. But you still have to leave from now on. You should be grateful I didn't throw your belongings into the trash."

Adrian rose from the sofa and handed his documents to Richard. The man's expression immediately changed after reading them.

"Amara, you—" his breathing became uneven. He threw the papers into the air. "You went this far?"

"That's because you tried to erase my name from my own company — first mistake… you erased my name from Vero's memory — second mistake… and you made my son suffer — third mistake, bastard."

Amara still sat upright with her arms crossed. For the first time, she truly didn't care about anyone else's feelings. She felt satisfied seeing someone so broken.

"Amara, I never once erased you from Vero's memory. Let me meet him now — Vero will tell the truth that I always introduced you to him, even if only through pictures."

Amara ignored that. "Adrian… please remove him from my sight."

Her lawyer bowed slightly and called someone waiting outside.

"You're cruel enough to destroy your own child's father? You only listened to others without giving me a chance to explain, Amara," Richard kept talking.

"The man who tried to get rid of me repeatedly… now you beg me to listen again?"

Moments later, men entered — large-built men who immediately dragged Richard away.

"Don't do this, Amara! You're destroying the wrong person! I am Vero's father — can you bear letting your child live without a father? I'll do anything — if I'm proven to have hurt Vero, I'll apologize to him for the rest of my life!"

Richard's voice grew fainter as he used his last chance before disappearing from Amara's sight.
