Time was moving unapologetically. Years passed.
The pink cherry blossom leaves brightened the Musutafu scenery at the beginning of the new term.
That day was the first day of our "hero" at his soon to be elementary school.
But.
"
He was sick. Badly so.
"Nooooooo, my school debut. A once in a lifetime occasion! Ruined…-"
"To bad sweetie you will have your "first day at school" in a week" His mom said with a smile that could be read as "I told you so"."
"It's unfair…- we have eaten that ice cream with Minoru together, but he's fineee~. But just look at me, it's terrible!"
"He's already probably sitting in our class, making new friends, leaving me behind.
"Maybe that will teach you to stop acting so &^%$#&##, now hush and get some sleep."
She ended the conversation after providing the boy with a medicine and her own dose of sass before leaving him to get some rest.

He had time to contemplate his life now.
All the events since he "awakened" 2 years ago.

Nothing really happened.
He upped on his Japanese.
He tried training a bit, but got tired very easily every time. (He did his due diligence though).
'Damn, and Endeavor started training Shoto since he was 5, what a madman.'
'I'm kinda jealous of Todorki's hair colours though. Nice design Horikoshi-sensei!...- although in this world I should rather congratulate Shoto's parents for that...- which I'm NOT doing, lest I want to lose my life miserably.'
Still, Laito was doing his best…- which didn't amount to that much really.
'At least I made 2 breakthroughs in my quirk training!'
He looked at his "specially crafted" socks that had shoelaces sewed into them for some reason.
'For training purposes!'
'And NOW focus…-'
And the shoelaces(socklaces?) has tied themselves quickly.
But it wasn't like the first time 2 years ago.
No.
Both the speed and accuracy of the tying process increased a lot.
And what was more important for Laito…
'I can choose the tying method and the resulting shoelace knot type now!'
He practiced a lot of them.
Criss Cross, Lock, Gap, Straight European, Straight Bar, Hidden Knot, Straight Easy, End Shortening, Gippo, Ladder, Supernova, Roman, Cascade, Cyclone Fence, Footbag, Waffle, Hexagram, Woven, Winter Solstice and many more!
'But my favorite is still the simpler one.'
'Yea, neat and only slightly more complicated than the usual "bunny ears" knot.'
'The Berluti Knot!'
'It's just right, not over the top but also very practical.'
'And I can make it without much thinking.'

'Now I can also do this!'
He focused on his now neatly tied socklaces and then…-
They untied themselves!
'YES! Actual progress, I couldn't ever feel more vindicated then right now.'
'Now when I go to school I will be able to show all that stupid kids that my quirk is NOT completely useless and it DOES have a potential (Best Jeanist I'm looking at you!).'

Laito would have never admitted that but they actually had some things quite in common. Not really the "perverted stuff"(though Laito obviously has been spending a lot of time on the internet in his first life…- so he has seen…- things).
But the interest in becoming heroes(for various reasons). Surprisingly, one could think that Mineta shifted his "focus" only during, or after his puberty hit, buuuuut nooooo. Apparently he was always…- Like "that".
Happens.
What they really shared was their penchant for a certain type of humour. In that regard they even developed something similar to the : "Two bros having to share their last and single brain cell" for some of the time.
Especially after Laito's has given the young Mineta a "crash course" on memeology studies.
And unfortunately(fortunately) memes (including brainrot) weren't exactly as popular in this age and day.
Heroes was.
Heroes.
Heroes.

EVERYWHERE!!!
Every bit of culture was one way or another now dominated by "heroes culture".
There is no place for the memes which would appear impossible, after all they are an integral part of the culture, but somehow…- no memes..- just...- heroes.
So.
Even if Laito suddenly decided to become a dum dum and resign from ever becoming a hero…-
'No way.'
'I'm already here…- I got reincarnated to the world which previously I have considered a fantasy.'
'There's no way…- I'm going to give up...- on U. A.'
Oh, he could just choose a different high school with a hero course. Right?
There's a lot of them, and U.A exams for his age bracket are not going to be particularly easy for somebody with a quirk like his. After all, he knows it's content from the show (Which in itself is quite an advantage).

Well, conviction is nice and all. But everybody can "talk big" and "dream of unrealistic nonsense".
And in Laito's situation? Who knows. Reality likes to verify who's a "winner" and a "loser".
And it doesn't care for nice words or "convictions". Not really. Even less for delusions.
Right now he's got 0% chance.
He was still quite physically weak. His quirk still quite shite.
At least he was pretty smart (Or so he thought, after all outdoing a 6 year olds is not that really difficult with a memories of a 30 years old…- unless it's Japanese grammar or Kanji study, because he's terrible at it).
And the clock…- was ticking.
And sooner or later..- something was going to happen.

Not today though. As Laito fell asleep. It was a peaceful sleep. Full of dreams about becoming a cool hero.
