Chapter 1 - Prologue: Rex

December 24, 1979 - London

Snow fell softly over the city, muffling the world beyond the windows of the London Maternity Centre. The day had been busy for all those inside the room, with christmas being celebrated in their family the rush to make everything perfect for their daughter had been tiring and then near the end something strange happened Andromeda Tonks née Black had her water break now usually this is not strange for one who was pregnant but they had just checked with the doctor and he had explained it would be another month until the baby would be born.

In that small room, isolated from the outside world, a final push, a scream, and the sound of a hand breaking marked the moment a young child was born. Great church bells rang across London. Later that century, they would call this day the advent of the king; the cries of the baby filled the room. The doctors looked happy with the child's reaction; there was no need for a spanking.

"Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Tonks its a baby boy"

"Well, the lad certainly has some lungs on him, doesn't he, Dromeda?" Edward said to his wife in a jolly tone.

"Sounds just like you, Ted. Hopefully, this one will learn when he should keep quite" She replied in a joking tone.

"Well, he does have your mind now, doesn't he?"

A knock comes from the door, and in walked his father, Bill Tonks, a kind man who lost his wife just the year before, holding his daughter Nymphadora in his arms.

"See las, that's your new brother", Bill said to the young 7-year-old girl.

"He looks weird", she responded, confused by the child.

---------------4 years later---------------

July 29 1984

It was a day of celebration for the tonks household. They had just got some wonderful news from an owl, the news that most children want, especially ones who are wizards. She had been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

" I'm so happy for you, honey", Ted said with barely hidden joy.

" I'm happy for you, dear. You'll make lots of friends at Hogwarts," Andromeda said with love.

" But who's going to play with me when she's gone? What am I going to do?" A young voice came out from beside Ted.

" Don't worry, Oberon, you always have your mother and me with you", Ted responded.

" But she's not funny. Big sister is," he responds.

" That hurts, dear"

" I'm sorry, Mom, I will just miss Dora though"

" It's okay, dear. We'll miss her too. We'll have to get you to clean the dish instead"

" Mom, don't be mean. I don't want to clean the dishes, mmmph"

" This should be a lesson not to be so mean to your mother then", Andromeda responded with a glint of joy in her eye, watching her son beg for forgiveness, finding it cute the way his cheeks puffed up trying and his puppy dog eyes.

" Anyway, we should probably do some shopping. The lass will need things for Hogwarts"

-------------------Diagon Alley-------------------

Diagon Alley was magical, that's all that really needed to be said about it, with it being one of the few places in magical Britain that had no muggles or rather no non-magically aware folk. Magic was allowed to be used freely, of course, but only everything that did not cause harm to others; animated creatures were tied to balloons and tiny fireworks, creating images of myth.

In that wonderful Alley, the Tonks family had just arrived from their home in Knightsbridge, a place that they were able to afford not only because of Andromeda's potions shop netting them a sizable share of galleons but also Ted's work as a lawyer, having become one not only for the magical side but the muggle side as well.

"This place never changes every time we come here", Andromeda said with a tone of reminiscence.

"Well, of course, because most British wizards don't like change, you know that Dromedea."

"I know, I know, but you would think with the increase in corrupted even after the death of you-know-who, they would do something"

"I still don't think that will be enough for most of the 'pure' bloods to get off their arse, they do make the most profit from this situation"

"Enough, talk about politics, you know how upset it makes me."

"Why don't you guys try and change things then?" Oberon asked in an innocent voice.

"We tried, honey, we really did, but the only way to even have a chance of changing the system, you need to be on the council and to do that, you need to be a part of a family of well-known wizards like house Potter or house Longbottom", Andromeda responded kindly.

"House Potter like Harry Potter?"

"Yes, the child they say who beat He-who-must-not-be-named"

"Does he live in a big castle, like the stories you told us about your parents' house mom?"

"No, last I checked with Lily, they still live in their nice little house in Godric's Hollow"

"That's cool, I guess"

"Now it's time to get your wand, Dora", Andromeda told her daughter.

"Okay, are you picking up the books?" She asked

"Yes, don't worry, you don't have to go to the bookstore today"

"Yes, thank you, Merlin"

---------------------------------------------------

Walking out of the bookstore, his mom kept on buying the supplies for Nymphadora as she got her wand, and Edward bought her cauldrons and glass phials. He looked around, wanting to see what else was in this magical place.

While wandering around close to the bookstore's entrance, he bumped into a pretty woman whose hair was white tinged with blue at the tips, and it was so long that it was close to touching the floor. Her expression looked almost devoid of emotion.

"You are an interesting human; your soul has not fully awakened. What has happened to you?" The mysterious lady said.

"Do I have a problem, lady? I feel fine, what's a soul?"

"It is the centre of a person. At birth, a child is fully awakened, usually. How odd, let me try something"

The lady suddenly put her hand on Oberon's shoulder, and he felt a wave of magic escape him into an outward display of power, and then the lady who was standing in front of him with her hands on his shoulder was getting sucked into him like his body like it was a black hole.

"This should not be possible, what is happening even if you're you have a, whaaaaa" she said, freaked out, probably the first display of emotions she has shown in years.

And at the same time, she disappeared into his body, he fell to the floor, causing someone to yell out, eventually leading Andromeda to find him while she was checking out the noise. The last thing Oberon heard was a roar that sounded like it came from underground.
