Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: Battle of the Overlords

BANG!

A green figure was launched backward like a cannonball, smashing into the steel defense line at breakneck speed. The tremendous force of the impact shook the ground!

The Ultimate Ork in their eyes had been knocked flying by some damn bug from nowhere? The hearts of every Greenskin witnessing this tightened in shock.

Hiss... Hiss...

Looking at its handiwork, the monstrous Tyranid responsible let out a piercing, ear-splitting shriek, seemingly mocking the Orks for overestimating themselves.

Its domineering physique stood seven meters tall by visual estimate alone. Its heavy red chitin armor was covered in sharp spikes, and its four muscular arms each wielded a crimson bone-sword. The ferocity in its cloudy yellow eyes was terrifying.

With the arrival of this monster, the Tyranid swarm, which had been losing ground, was reinvigorated with high morale. It raised its blades high, and behind it, the boundless, terrifying sea of bugs roared in response.

If Ghazghkull Thraka was the Ultimate Ork, then this terrifying monster was the Tyranid Swarm's strongest, most perfect warrior.

Every part of its body had been designed by the Hive Mind to be perfectly suited for combat and killing. It possessed self-awareness.

The Swarmlord.

A legendary Tyranid bioform created by the Hive Mind specifically to devise new strategies when standard tactics and physiological/biological adaptations failed against an enemy.

Weighing nearly six tons, it possessed terrifying combat skills. It was also a formidable psyker; its psychic scream could erase an opponent's will to fight and shatter the morale of enemy armies en masse.

Even without using psychic powers, the Swarmlord's physical strength alone could tear through reinforced concrete and plasteel as easily as glass.

Just now, it had dismantled Thraka's power claw. This cunning bug first severed the hydraulic pistons, turning the power claw from a weapon into a heavy burden. Then, it shattered the claws with its bone sabers. The residual force of the strike, undiminished, slashed directly onto Thraka's heavy armor, inflicting severe damage before he could react.

Swarmlords are rare. The conditions for a Hive Ship to spawn such a monster are extremely harsh. Thus, they are the kings of the swarm, supreme monarchs.

The Swarmlord's feat of knocking Thraka flying in one blow should have greatly boosted the swarm's morale. But suddenly, an extremely mournful, shrieking wail pierced the sky, echoing with penetrating force!

It came from beneath the battlefield where Orks and Tyranids clashed.

Riiiip...

Just hearing it made one's heart pound. What kind of pain could cause such a scream?

The giant Tyranid lurking underground couldn't bear the agony. Its body, over a hundred meters long, writhed and rolled beneath the shattered earth.

The thrashing of a Titan-sized beast caused indiscriminate, terrifying damage. Although a few unlucky Greenskins fell into the abyssal cracks opening in the ground, the Tyranids suffered far worse.

The massive tremors caused the swarm to fall into the huge pits dug by the beast, where they were crushed to powder by its colossal rolling body.

It was the monster that had swallowed Kenmei's Gargant whole—a Mawloc, a giant subterranean bioform that looked like a mix of machine and flesh.

Originally, it was a "Warboss Killer" prepared by the Hive Mind specifically for Boss Ironjaw. But this war machine, which had slaughtered countless Tyranids, was a higher-value target. With its powerful bite force and digestive fluids tens of times stronger than aqua regia (capable of dissolving metal), the Hive Mind assumed that pile of scrap metal was done for.

But now, this Titan-sized beast was convulsing in spasms. Its belly bulged high like it was nine months pregnant. That was clearly the source of its pain.

This anomaly was far beyond the Hive Mind's expectations.

"Eat! I told you to eat!"

Inside the beast, the windshield wipers on Kenmei's screen worked furiously, wiping away fresh sprays of juice and minced meat.

He was currently operating the Gargant's power claw, wreaking havoc. Whether it was flesh or organs around him, everything got a claw to the face.

Expressionless, Kenmei was venting his resentment at being swallowed whole through practical action.

The surface of the Gargant was coated in high-concentration green energy. The highly corrosive digestive fluids dripping onto it caused no damage. Kenmei had borrowed the WAAAGH! Field from the Greenskins on the battlefield to form a shield around the Gargant.

After venting for a bit, Kenmei sensed that he seemed to have returned from the deep underground to near the surface.

Kenmei retracted the power claw. From the mechanical arm, a massive chainsword-like weapon—the Mega-Choppa he had ordered the Mekboyz to install—deployed.

The moment he pressed the switch, the violent motor roared, and the chainsword began spinning at high speed, cutting into the surrounding walls of flesh. The tip of the Mega-Choppa pierced through, completely exposing it to the outside air.

This drove the Mawloc even crazier, its body twisting and rolling on the ground.

Originally, Kenmei just wanted to cut an opening to get out. But now, things were different.

With his other hand, Kenmei aimed the cannon at the organs in the tunnel ahead that hadn't yet been torn to pieces and opened fire.

Clearing a path. Kenmei directly piloted the Gargant to start running. The exposed Mega-Choppa, following the Gargant's movement, began slicing long, open wounds along the length of the giant beast.

The Orks outside watched in stupor. The high bulge on the beast's back moved from rear to front, while the exposed blade sawed open flesh, sending blood spraying everywhere.

Terrifying digestive fluids also sprayed out from the open wounds. Thanks to the beast's violent thrashing, the fluids spread even more effectively, causing massive friendly fire among the Tyranids, melting their carapaces and killing them almost instantly.

Soon, the behemoth, completely disemboweled, lost the strength to scream. With a thud, it collapsed onto the battlefield.

Following a few gunshots, a large hole was blasted in the beast's body. Amidst disgusting blood and minced organs, Kenmei piloted the Gargant, tearing through the Tyranid tissue, and walked out.

Meanwhile, the Swarmlord, which had held back earlier to avoid being hit by the thrashing Titan, roared upon seeing the pile of scrap metal emerge. It immediately launched a charge at Kenmei's position.

Being targeted by the Swarmlord, Kenmei felt a sudden surge of terror, like prey being locked onto by an apex predator.

Through the monitor, Kenmei saw an ancient and powerful intelligence shining in the monster's eyes. Compared to the intellect staring at him through those unblinking eyes, he felt like a newborn baby.

For the first time, Kenmei felt true fear.

But before Kenmei could even open fire, he heard it.

"WAAAGH!!!"

A thunderous roar.

The menacing red shadow was intercepted mid-charge and knocked flying by another rampaging green behemoth.

BANG!!!

The Tyranid's strongest warrior, weighing nearly six tons, was sent flying hundreds of meters away in a tsunami-like shockwave generated by the collision of red and green!

Pounding his chest, Ghazghkull Thraka roared at the sky, a sound that shook the heavens.

"Bug! Yer fight is wiv ME!"
