Yuan Si didn't dare tell the old lady she had spent five days in the mountains, fighting tigers and killing criminals. Instead, she had fabricated a story about guarding the foot of the mountain. Who knew that even then, the old lady would still find fault. She decided it was best to just shut up. She didn't have Xiao Furen's knack for handling her, and no amount of practice would change that.
"Hey, why isn't Fang Ping here?" Yuan Si belatedly realized someone was missing from the house.
"You're a bit slow on the uptake, aren't you? Only noticing now," the old lady chided.
Xiao Furen couldn't bear to see his wife looking so put-upon, so he explained the situation. "A spot opened up in the flour mill's dormitory last week. Fang Ping said it would be more convenient for her commute, so she moved out."
