Whatever was said on the other end, Erin Lowell's face instantly fell. "Yes, I understand."
The person on the other end was her department head, Yvonne Lewis, a master surgeon in her fifties whose mortality rate from surgical errors was under five percent.
She was hailed as a master of her craft.
Yvonne continued, "By the way, you don't have any more surgeries scheduled today. Once you're done, get ready. Someone from upper management is coming for an inspection, and I want you to accompany them."
