The brim of her hat was pulled low, hiding her expression. He crouched in front of her and raised a hand, gently tapping the brim. "Keep your head down. Don't look. Just listen."
In the distance, Ken Shaw was still on the ground. His cries of pain had stopped as he struggled to get back on his feet.
Zane Jennings walked over and bent down to pick up the watch from the ground. Its crystal was shattered. He glanced down, his gaze sinister and cold, filled with pure, destructive fury.
His eyes were chillingly ruthless.
Ken Shaw struggled to his feet and glanced up, muttering a string of curses through gritted teeth. "Fuck... you're asking for it. I'll fucking kill you."
Zane wrapped the watch's strap around his palm, the broken face resting over his knuckles. His expression was completely blank. "You really are asking to die."
Ken Shaw reached for the knife on the ground, but Zane strode forward and kicked him squarely in the shoulder. Ken Shaw fell backward, wincing in pain.
