That night, Ting Mo tossed and turned in bed.
Xiao Xiao asked her what was wrong.
"I feel so nervous," Ting Mo said. "I don't know what happened, but I can't sleep."
So that was it.
Xiao Xiao was getting sleepy too. She had been observing Ting Mo for a while, and the young girl's reaction seemed perfectly normal. "You're still young. You'll understand later. Being a reporter means navigating through all kinds of storms."
"Does this happen to you often, Sister Xiao Xiao?"
"I wouldn't say often," Xiao Xiao replied, recalling her past experiences. "But maybe once every year or two."
"Oh, I see."
Ting Mo pretended to chat a bit more before saying she needed to use the restroom. Xiao Xiao turned on the light for her. Ting Mo got up, rubbing her eyes as if still half-asleep, and walked to the bathroom. She went inside.
